worker and want to get this ordeal over and done with. Initally I had high anxiety and stress for the first week but now after reading this forum two weeks on, less stessed as the anxiety was killing me. Odds are in my favour, so I just want to have a HIV
I was planning to have a test at 4 weeks but I was wondering is 23 days to soon, as I have had no obvious ARS in the last couple of weeks (I know that does not mean anything)?
I've read GUM Clinics here in the UK on the first visit wish to counsel you first, does that mean to have a HIV
test, they will ask you to make another appointment?
Do they insist on you having test at week 12? As I plan to stop testing after week 4.
To every one worried, try to calm done, what has happened has happened, just be positive before your results come.
If I was in week 4 and tested negative, I would not look back.
Guilty for what I had done yes, worried about HIV
RUSSIAN ROULLETE, i undestand how you feel, iam on the same boat, i got tested at 5 weeks "35" days, and iam going my 8 week test tomorrow, iam so scared, persistan sympoms are worryin me, i have spots
I've looked at my tongue, yes it does have a white coating but to tell the truth, I've never examined my tongue before. I really do not know how my tongue looks like normally. I m not going to worry about the symptons, symptons mean nothing without a doctor telling me what they are. So don't worry.
The good doc told me 4 weeks test is good enough and I believe him, so you've tested after 35 days, what are you worried about..
Let your anxiety go and maybe your symptons will disappear, I think from reading all the post most symptons are caused by our minds playing tricks on us.
these symtops are so real, i don't think anxiety can couse it, even my Doc looked at my tongue and says it does't look like HIV related i don't think any thing else can couse it
What I am trying to ask is do GUM clincs here in the uk give you a HIV test straight away on the first appointment or will they ask you to come back for on another appointment a few days later.
I really want a test at 4 weeks.
As I am not prepared to wait 12 weeks to have a test..
I've been going to a GUM clinic in the UK. When you go they start with regular STD screening and then give you counciling and book you in for a 12 week hiv test. Now, I phoned them several times and almost had to beg to get a test at 7 weeks. I was well stressing out (and still do on and off), but they did do it (was neg. by the way). However, they still told me to come back for the 12 week test! I think it is because they have to stick to the BMC guidelines that state testing should be done at 12 weeks. In high risk cases they will test out to 6 months.
I had a chat to the health advisor a few weeks ago, when I was going through a bit of a panic phase and asked him about test acurracy at 6-8 weeks. He said although, it is believed that the test is very accurate in the time phase, they still have to follow BMC guidelines. He was fairly non-commital really. Although, I did find guideline on the web dated August 2006 that promoted the benefits of earlier testing. Can't find them at the moment though!!
