This forum is answered by peers. If you want a doctor's response you need to post in the paid forum.

That being said, the advances in HIV diagnoses and treatment have come a very long way since the 80s and there is no reason to believe that a blood test would not pick up the antibodies if they are present. To believe otherwise is an irrational fear that needs to be addressed by a mental health professional, not an infectious disease specialist.
