Is this ARS?

by ExtremelyScared, Jan 17, 2008 09:56PM
Would you diagnose this as ARS? I had sex with a female friend of mine. I was the penetrating partner and we had unprotected vaginal sex. We had protected and unprotected sex a few more times over the next month. During this time I also had protected sex with another friend of mine and she was a virgin.  Fast forward, two weeks later I had a crazy thought “I have HIV.” I became paranoid and the symptoms appeared. Soar throat with very mild sinus. 3 days later rash in my left sole; three itchy bumps surrounded by black dots. I had been struggling with athlete foot for six months and that the day before the rash appeared I was wearing some sandals that made my feet sweat like crazy. Two days after the rash, my muscles starting aching and did for like three weeks. Mild during the morning but increased as the day passed on. Next day gingivitis. Went away after a day but then a mouth ulcer appeared in my lip. Went away after one day but  right after this one healed, a new one appeared which also lasted a day. After  the ulcers disappeared, I noticed a bump in my tongue. I went to the doctor so she could take a look at my foot rash.  She said that it is normal because I did not treat my athlete foot after six months of struggling with it.  There are a few things that give me hope. I never had fever.  I did feel chills some times at work though  but one of my coworkers caught a flu a few days later. My brother also caught a very mild athlete foot. My rash never expanded from my foot. My glands in the neck were not swollen. At last, I talked to this girl the last time we had sex and she said she got tested four months before and that she always uses a condom. My other friend, the virgin one was also a white middle-class lady. She was raped though which I found out after the sex incident. I also have to say that when we slept together there was a lot of blood involved and the condom slipped off twice. I put it back on even though it was bloody. Huge mistake. Would you diagnose it as ARS? I have been under a lot of stress for over six months because my relationship with my ex-wife ended, then I was crazy pressured at school until I graduated. Then I partied to the limit for two weeks, moved back home and began a new job. These symptoms match with ARS.  I will go test Monday at a rapid test lab.  Do you think I will test positive?

To diagnose ARS is after the fact. It's diagnosed after someone has tested positive. Only a test will give you, your status. As for condom slipping off, get a condom that will fit, they come in sizes and make sure you know the correct way of using condoms. ie holding onto to the base of it when withdrawing and the use of a water base lube.
