Is your immune system weaker for getting HIV after antibiotics?

Hello,

I had intercourse with an "HIV high risk person" where the HIV status is unknown 5 days after I finished my Antibiotics for a throat infection. I KNOW THAT WAS STUPID!
I am now on a PEP program and my Doctor did the STD testing. I just heard that I have Chlamydia, but no symptoms. Since I am on a business trip I can't talk with the doctor, all I hear is come in for an appointment, when you are back in town, which is in two weeks. The reason for these questions;

1. Is your immune system weaker for getting HIV after antibiotics?
2. If you are on a PEP program when can you do the first reliable testing for HIV with:
    a. OraQuick ADVANCEĀ® Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody Test ?
    b. HIV-1 DNA PCR Test (normally gives results after min 12 days from exposure)
3. How accurate are these tests (a&b) as mentioned above?

I can't believe how stupid I was, since I am really happy with my wife and she was the only female in my life since I know her (The past 6 years). THANKS A LOT for your answers!!

You only need the one antibody tests. PCR-DNA tests are not approved to diagnose HIV.

The doctor took that decision for taking PEP not me, all I want is getting to be out of this situation and belief me, to never have this problem again!!!!! I just can't believe how stupid I was, I know I had too much alcohol that day, but I certainly do not want to hide behind that.

From the folder of the STD doctor:
"....for HIV PEP Treatment if all the following criteria are met:
- Exposure occurred within the past 72 hours;
- Mucous membrane or non-intact skin was significantly exposed to a potentially    infectious body fluid;   Unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse OR unprotected receptive fellatio (oral sex performed on the penis) with ejaculation
- The potentially exposed individual is not infected or not known to be infected with HIV;
- The source is HIV+ve or the HIV status is unknown."

I am just trying to get answers, before I am home again, on some of my questions (see above) since it gives my quite some stress. I also read that if she has Chlamydia, she has a higher change of getting HIV / having HIV..

I have since day one, a white tongue with some red patches and very, very dry mouth/lips, which drives me even more crazy.. (stress/reaction of antibiotics?)

Teak, thanks for your time and answer, but is that for both tests?..AGAIN THANKS!!

You didn't meet the guidelines to be issued nPEP. You had a risk and you can obtain your conclusive test result 3 months post your last dose of nPEP medication.

The STD Doctor said there is low risk of getting HIV via oral seks, it was the intercourse part that is the worry.

Oral sex isn't a risk of contracting HIV and you should have never been given nPEP.

I had one unprotected intercourse, but pulled out before I came, I liked her ones, and she me a few times, but no bj.
The PEP was described via a STD doctor, 62 hours after exposure.

The antibiotics I got via my doctor was :Clarithromycin 250mg, Augmex 625mg, and Amoxicillin 500mg Clavulanate Potassium 125 mg tablets. I had ad one stage 39.4C fever. got the medicine and was feeling 2 days later very normal.

The HIV PEP tablets, I got via the STD Doctor; (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis/Prevention): Combivir  (Lamivudineand & Zidovudine), and Kaletra (lopinavir/Ritonavir) tablets.

And YES I agree, it was the risk that I undertook that makes them a risk.

Where were you prescribed your nPEP? People or groups aren't high risks, it's the risks you undertake that makes them a risk.
