Just started PEP, please help!

Hi, I engaged in activity I should not have with a sex worker.  I rushed to the emergency room and was put on truvada and aluvia.  After I am on them for 28 days is it likely that the side effects will stop or will they become permanent?  How often doe they become permanent?

Thank you so much!  I do understand that I am not at a very high risk, but if there is any risk at all I want to protect myself.  It was a regretful decision which I will learn from.  I kind of think I may not even need the PEP but I've already paid the money for it and can deal with the mild side effects for a month just for peace of mind.  Thank you for your replies.

Yes. You are not taking it long term, you are taking it for 28 days.

Usually... as in usually they stop after stopping the medication?  I did talk to him in depth about the side effects and he stated that most of the time they consist of diahreah, vomiting, sweating, and rashes.  When I googled PEP side effects it seems like a lot of people have serious issues long term though so that scares me.  Read somewhere where you can have cronic fatigue and kidney failure.

Unprotected sex for short period of time then I stopped it because I freaked out.  It was for maybe a couple minutes.
