Kinda/very nervous

Doc,

Background: 25 year old male here, tested 6 months or so ago for HIV and negative.  I'm usually very careful, but I'm always worried I'm not careful enough.

I occasionally have contact with male CSW's.  I almost always ask before we do anything about their HIV status -- one time I forgot and asked after.  I'm wondering if I have any risk of contracting HIV via any of the following encounters, along with total risk.  Each time, the CSW's told me they were negative.

1.  On one occasion, a CSW masturbated and came himself and shortly after used the same hand to masturbate me.  Normally I'm very careful, but after the encounter, I noticed I had two red abrasions (no blood from what I can tell) on my penis.  I'm concerned because he used the hand that he had *** on to masturbate me and I'm worried some of those secretions got into the cuts.  Also, I licked his testicles, but didn't see any broken skin.  My lip was a bit split during this encounter, but wasn't bleeding to my knowledge.

2.  Another  few times, again with a CSWs, mutual masturbation and licking of the scrotum.  No cuts this time that I could tell.

3.  Another time, I just gave the guy a handjob, but he gave me oral sex.  I didn't *** in his mouth, but he did give me fellatio for at least 5 minutes or so.

So, in total, any risk here?  I'm kind of concerned about being with partner...I don't want to spread anything to anyone else.  But I haven't hit the one month mark on any of these events, so I haven't bothered with testing.

Glad to hear that you ask your partners about their status.  That is a good practice. Let's go straight to your questions:

1.  It is normal for their to be some spread of secretions between partners in the context of masturbation yet this is still safe sex.  It is for you too.  Similarly, trhe frictrion associated with masturbation is normal and should not change your risk.
2.  No risk.  It is still masturbation which is safe sex.
3.  Masturbation- stil no risk.  AS for receipt of oral sex, we state that it is very low risk with a 1 in 10,000 chance of HIV transmission, IF your partner is infected.  Others disagree and state that oral sex is no risk at all.  Either way, the risk for this exposure is also very, very low.

Bottom line, your risk is no risk or, at worse, very close to no risk.  There is nothing in any of the situation you describe that make me suggest that you need testing for that  exposure.  EWH

Thanks for the reply, Doc...you put my fears at ease.

I just had one follow up question regarding #1.  I wanted to clarify that the two abrasions were pretty red, were near the head of my penis and were a little worse then what I usually get from engaging in mutual masturbation.  Same answer?  I hope so.

Just wanted to make sure, because the information on the internet at large is sometimes contradictory...and the reliable stuff is tough to differentiate.

Thanks again!
