Kissing and finger*

by patlarson, Nov 09, 2009 07:50AM
Hello Doc,
I know that my question has been answered elsewhere on the forum but each case is I guess still a bit particular.
I dated a girl on 25th Oct.
We basically kissed and I finger**d her. Since we had no condom there has been no penetration, nor any bj or whatsoever.
Nevertheless, I have a bad tooth that bleeds from time to time and I am a bit worried that a wound - blood contact could have taken place as she brushed her teeth before the kissing. As for the finger* I know that this is no issue.
To be on the safe side I got tested after 2 and 3 weeks respectively.
The first test was an Elisa whilst the second was an Elisa + AG P24.
On the second I received the results showing "HIV1/2 : negative" but no mention as such of the AG P24 results ...
If the lab did not forget to make the AG P24, in other words if that turned negative, can I assume at exposure +3 weeks that it is fully negative (thinking that AG should have appeared by the 3rd week right ?).
Last but not least, do I virtually need to re-test ? Knowing that I have not had any other partner less than 3 months ago, that the dates and facts of this one are corrects but also that I have no idea about that girl status, beside that she comes from Central Africa ... ...).
Many tks again for your advices.
P.

Welcome to our Forum.  Even if your partner had HIV (which is unlikely), the exposure you describe is zero risk for HIV acquisition.  No one has ever gotten HIV from masturbation ("fingering") nor kissing- not ever.  Your 3 week tets confirm this.  At 3 weeks somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-80% of persons who had acquired HIV would have postive tests.  That a p24 was done as well only increases the strenght of the proof that you did not get HIV from what was a no risk situation to start with

Hope this comment helps.  Take care.  EWH

Hi Doctor,

Thanks for your swift feedback.
As you might have understood the date took place on 25th September and not October as wrongly mentioned above ... which does obviously not change the end result.
I was a bit worried to be frank (you know the "what if if if ... I was the only one case") but your answer sounds clear enough.
Many thanks !
P.
