When your blood gets sent to the lab for HIV testing and if they get a positive on first test how long does it take for them to retest and then order a western blot for final confirmation?
Im asking because my last test went to the lab and the results were sent right back out that same day, which the person at Viromed lab told me is a good indication of a negative because of the quick turnaround time. Would it have taken an extra day or 2 if they had to retest and then order a western blot?
I get that but he girl at the lab told me that they got the blood, tested it, and sent the results out all in the same day. She said thats a good indicator since when the first is positive it gets retested a few times and all that. I would just figure that if the test was pos they would not have sent the results back the same day due to the extra testing that is required.
The thing is that they send the results to the government, which then in turn will as always take their sweet *** time to tell me. The lab is not allowed to tell me the result, all she could tell me was that everything happened the same day.
