Low Lymphocyte Counts? Undetectable HIV? Teak..someone?

Hello all.  I waited 25 days (which the CDC lists as the average HIV infection time) to get tested.  My HIV I rapid test results came back non-responsive (negative), which was a huge relief to me.  I did look at the rest of my blood test results; however, and noticed that my lymphocyte count was 24%, which is on the low end of the range from 20-50%.  I also noticed that my MPV count was also low at 6.9FL, under the normal value range of 7.4-10.4.

My question is, could it be possible for my lymphocyte count to fall without the HIV antibody present?  I'm worried that this may be a progression of undetected HIV, and the fact that I took the test at 25 days instead of 6 weeks makes me worried as well.

Another question I have is how accurate is the rapid test?  My blood is undergoing the full HIV I/2 test tomorrow, but I heard the rapid one is almost as good.

Could someone help me out here.  I was first very happy with the negative result, but am somewhat freaking out again because its not 6 weeks.  Could my lymphocytes be falling due to undetected HIV?  I appreciate anyone and everyone who answers.  best regards, crix

No that does not mean you are negative. VL tests are not used to diagnose HIV, they are used to monitor patients that are HIV positive.

Hello! Everybody, Could someone possibly help me figure out something? I got a confusion about HIV antibody test. Nowadays, there are 2 types of HIV tests called Rapid Oral HIV Test & HIV Blood Test. If the Viral Load in my Blood is less than 30copies, does this mean negative result in    the tests? Or can it be detected even 1 cell contains in blood? I appreciate everyone's answers. Thank you...

From what i read one blood cell has an impact on other blood cells. High neutrophylls usually cause lymphocytes to go down. Other factors such as stress also have a big impact on lymphocytes that's why you can't look at these results.

Crix. This is unreal. I was searching for information on lymphocytes and saw your post.  I am now 23 days past my suspect day (brushed with needle), and have the same lymphocytes results as you.  24%!  What is your monocytes count....mine is 10%, which is high.  I'm not sure if this means anything.....let me know, tom in sc

I agree, the negative HIV test is encouraging.  I received an answer from a Med School grad on another post that says my lymphocyte levels are fine, and that there is no "falling" of lymphocytes.  He also states that they change day to day for various reasons.  I'm still trying to find out whether lymphocytes decrease gradually or drastically with the presence of HIV in its early stages.

Part of me regrets looking at that portion of the blood test beacause I should be happy with the negative at 24 days.  I just want to understand if the low lymphocytes can be a precursor of things to come.

What do you mean by that?  I think it is a legit question to ask if lymphocyte counts can go down with HIV in its undetectable stage.
