I have been reading a few posts so I have a feeling that the end result is going to be for me to wait until my 13 week test but I just wanted to throw this out there.... My husband of 11 years had an unprotected one night stand with a girl of unknown origin on Feb 28, 2009. I didn't know this for some time. He came home and we started having unprotected sex
pain. Went to the doc Monday the 23rd and was diagnosed with yeast infection and bacterial vaginossis (no trich present). Was treated with anti-boitics. Saturday the 28th I noticed pain in both sides of my arm pits. Still sore throat
in neck area that I could tell. Same day hubby confesses. We both have full screens down over the next few days - all neg - his HIV was taken at 31 days and mine 17 days so obviously mine was going to be neg no matter what. Everything else was clean. On about April 3 my tongue developed a white coating and felt like I had burned it. Nothing else odd in my mouth or throat other than the sore throat - armpits never stopped hurting. About April 10 both elbows and my fingers hurt so bad that my hands are just now working well. April 17 I developed a mild random fever (still have it, the sore throat and armpit pain) and minor headache. My groin nodes are now also painful and radiate into my thighs slightly. I also have been having ramdon mild muscle cramps. My second HIV test was neg at 5 weeks 4 days. Strep/oral thrush neg. I am currently awaiting results from blood culture and full blood work up. I was wondering then do the initial symptoms tend to spread over time? I truly appreciate this forum. I lost my Uncle in his fight with AIDS the week before I found out my hubby cheated (I realize that sounds made up but goodness help me it is the honest truth - he fought it for 25 years but never took good care of himself - we will miss him). Obviously I will retest at 13 weeks and obviously you can't diagnose on symptoms but it is so wierd and has been going on for weeks now... the throat, tongue, and armpit pain has never changed - just new symptoms added on... thank you for your time and effort in answering this question and helping all those who reach out..... maybe this forum will teach everyone to be cautious - always - I know I will be from now on......
For your information, nothing you have mentioned is indictative of HIV. You don't get pains in your arm pits or anywhere else with HIV infection and symptoms don't come on one at a time.
Thank you for taking the time to answer..... I just wasn't sure if the pains were due to multiple swollen lymph nodes, although I can't feel any at all... have a nice day and thank you again.
I am no expert but I just went though the scare aswell. What started as a cold got me paniced of a possible HIV exposure. I quickly developed the white tongue and sore throat as days went by and seaching online I got the same symptoms as you even more they came and went over 6 weeks till I got tested. I even had sore armpits and groin but was sure it was self inflicted by myself poking at them all the time. From what most say is your symptoms will come on all at once. And are normally really noticable. One doctor I went to said if he told me that a sore toe was a sign of HIV I would get a sore toe and guess what that night I did hurt till I feel asleep. (I think that is because the mind is elsewhere when sleeping) Eitherway I am sure your fine good luck with the results! And try to stay away from symptom checking, it does more damage then good. I also found atavin to help the real bad days!!
Thanks for your input.... it made me chuckle! My husband still hasn't had any type of symptoms at all and his doc said that a retest was only necc to make him feel better.... but one thing I have found is unfort. there are a lot of docs out there with WAY wrong info. I am going to stop obsessively checking symptoms like you suggested (and I got my script for Atavin filled yesterday! LOL) I am waking up with the lymph node pain and doing my best to not touch the areas at all which may help - my doc said she is going to test me again at 8 weeks and then 13 weeks. I am lucky because my doc is truly wonderful.... thanks again for your input!
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.... I developed a sore under my tongue today which has always been common for me but of course makes me nervous. I can see how my Grandparents got flustered when trying to get info regarding my Uncle a few years ago.... it seems that no one is on the same page when you website hop. Even some docs don't have a clue...... frustrating. I am going to test at 8 weeks and then 13 weeks just to be sure and then hopefully what is going on stress related. Again, thank you for your time.
Update: I woke up this AM without any problems...... no painful nodes - throat fine - so I will retest later this week.... hmmmm.. thanks again everyone!
