Need URGENT help, condom broke sex with prostitute

Hi all, I need urgent help. 12 hours ago, I had sex with a prostitute from Singapore. She is a local singaporean girl, 22 years old, and she tells me she has only been escorting for just under 2 months. We were having sex, and the condom broke. In hindsight, I think the UNprotected sex could not have lasted more than 2 minutes. When we noticed, she immediately put another condom on and we finished our business. She told me this is the second time the condom has broken. I'm worried, there's a tight knot in my chest, and I'm not sure how much more I can take. I went to see a doctor to ask about PEPs. He told me my risk is small, but he would still consider this as a high risk encounter and recommend me to go on the PEPs. I declined, because I didn't fully agree with his decision, singaporean doctors are known to prescribe meds to readily. But now I'm reconsidering. What do you guys think my risk exposure is and should I go on the PEP?? Please reply quick, as my 72 hour window is approaching!! PLEASE HELP

Hi Teak, please make no mistake, I am planning to get tests done. I'll be getting the DNA test in 10 days, another test 4 weeks, and then the final one 3 months. My question is whether I should consider PEP. Do u think my risk is high enough to warrant PEP?

HIV is not a guessing game. The only way to know your status is by testing.

As I said PEP for the most part is reserved for people with a known exposure with someone confirmed HIV+. I know the Dr's on this site would not recommend PEP.

PEP is normally reserved for people with exposure with a HIV+ person. PEP is a decision for you and your Dr to make.

You had a risk and you should test at 3 months for a conclusive result. A DUO test at 4 weeks will give you a good indication.
