Hi Sir/Mam,
My name is Kunal and have done a great mistake during last week of May 2009.My friends and I got drunk and hired a prostitute. This was my my first time sex ever in my life.I had oral sex with her and then wore a condom and had vaginal sex.But the condom just covered the tip of the penis and what made it even worse was after having intercourse when i withdrew my penis the condom slipped off and i have to withdraw my penis without a condom.I am not sure wheather i had intercourse with a condom covering my penis or the condom slipped off while having sex.But as far as i could remember when i withdrew my penis i saw semen coming out from condom i don't know if this is considered as protected sex or unprotected one.I am really scared now and had 3 tests done. One test was done after 2 days which came out negative, the other one after 37 days(5 weeks)  which was negative again and the third one after 55 days(that is appx 8 weeks) and got negative result.Am i safe or do i need to get tested again after one month as i am under window period.I got tested from a government hospital in India and the person who handed me the report said you need to get tested again after 3 months that is month of October and the reason he gave  was the human immune system is strong enough and it takes time to detect the virus for which 8 weeks is not enough.I am really worried now and its hampering my health. Is it true what he said. Please help me out and what are my chances of getting HIV from that prostitute of unknown status considering her to be HIV positive from just only one exposure.
Thanks
Kunal

Well your details are not the best so I can't say if the condom stayed on, but I can say that it was never put on properly.
8 weeks is a very good indication, but 3 months is conclusive. So I suggest taking that 3 month test, but don't worry to much since 8 weeks was negative.

And buy some condoms and learn how to put them on correctly before you have sex again.

Thanx Vance but my concern is 3 months from unprotected sex or i need to take the test again after 3 months that is month of October and what are my chances of getting HIV from only one unprotected sex

3 months from the unprotected sex.
I don't give out stats with chances, feel it is better to say risk or no risk. If we said this person had a 1 in 100,000 chance a lot of people would not test and I find that to be not right.

The chance of getting HIV from one unprotected exposure is pretty slight, even with a CSW. And it sounds like you were protected for most of the act if there was semen in the condom when you withdrew, which makes the likelihood even slimmer.

In addition, your 8 week negative test result means it is even less likely that you got infected. But as Vance said, you need a final test at 3 months for your result to be conclusive.

Neither doctor on this forum has had a negative test at 8 weeks test positive after 12 weeks within the last several years, nor do they know of any colleagues who have observed this, and Doctor Hook has said it probably happens less than 1 in 10,000 times. It is VERY RARE.

Your worry is W A Y out of proportion to the actual chance that you have HIV, which is
V A N I S H I N G L Y  L O W.

You should expect a negative result on your 12 week test.

Hi Joggen,
When i got negative test for my unprotected sex after 8 weeks  i had sex with CSW but this time it was protected sex used latex condom and when i had sex then again after one hour i had protected sex with the same CSW.Now i regret once again why have i done this.Is it possible for me to get HIV from CSW from protected sex twice and what are my chances of getting HIV from these two exposure both time protected sex if that CSW is considered as HIV positive.
