Newly Scared

If y'all can help answer any of my questions, I would be appreciated.  This is a new universe for me.  I plan to ask the doctors some of these questions, but they have already reached their quota for the day.

Long story short--I was the recipient in an incident of receptive anal sex.  The condom broke during this exposure.  But as soon as it happened 1-5 seconds, my partner pulled out.  He did not ejaculate inside me.  I am not sure how much precum was in contact with me.  I do not know the status of my partner--at least I cant confirm it.  I received the treatment of an HIV specialist and have been on PEP for 28 days.  I took PEP at about the 60th hour.  I am seeing the doctor on monday for a follow-up.  I went this morning for a rapid HIV test.  It was negative.  I know I am within the window period still, but I am trying to understand if that test was at all good news, or meant nothing.

As for symptoms, I know they are unreliable, but if anyone can help explain what 'unexplained weight loss' means--is it like 5 lbs or 25 lbs.  Also, I hear that 'stiff neck' is a symptom--I know it can be a symptom of many things so I am trying to not worry, but I dont know why it would be one of ARS.

Any guidance would be great.  Thank you.

Unexplained weight loss is just like it sounds, losing weight for no reason. Stiff neck is not a symptom. The test was way too early especially with being on the meds.

I would think your risk was fairly low in the first place since a condom was used and he pulled out as soon as it broke.

I wish you the best.

If you could contact the guy and have him take a rapid test then you can put the wondering to rest. Not sure how feasible that is for you though.

Thank you for the advice to contact my partner.  Unfortunately, they wont respond.

This morning I woke up with one cold sore in the side of my cheek in my mouth.  Is this a very concerning sign?

You will be instructed to take a conclusive test at 3 months post your last dose of PEP.
