Not A Question. Just advice to those who wish to test.

Hi all, I personally have had an exposure in August 2014 and i was so afraid of having caught STD's and HIV that i have been doing many tests over and over again. My advice to others out there is that it is based on the accurate scientific studies, it has shown that the 4th generation test (Combo test) is conclusive at 28 days post exposure and 3rd generation antibody test to be conclusive at 3 months. There is never a need to ever test pass this 3 months window and i have learned it the hard way by testing all the way pass 6 months, with more than 15 negative lab and rapid tests. Just would like to share my personal experience with you guys. Cheers all and stay safe! :)

Thanks for sharing, yes you are absolutely right. 4th Generation Duo and Third Generation Antibody tests are conclusive at 28 days and 3 months respectively. Additional tests are only waste of time and money

PCR RNA test is what I was referring to.
PCR RNA , HIV-RNA, NAAT - all these are the same thing

Hi Sharkboy,
FYI As i understand, blood donation centres use the HIV-RNA test (also called the NAAT) test, not the 4th gen test.

Easier said than done sometimes. I've had a 4,6 & 7 week 4th gen tests all comeback negative. Waiting on my 8.5 week result, I just feel I have too many symptoms. Scared and exhausted.

Thanks for your post.

More education need's to be put out about 4th Gen Test.

All blood donation centres use this test, so all HIV testing centre's should be using this test by now, especially in America.

Yeah and i learned it the really hard way, by retesting and retesting. At the end of the day at more than 6 months, i had to be counselled by a counsellor in order to feel better and be able to believe all my test results. So i would just like to share with everyone how stupid it actually is and how it would affect your life if you ever let that anxiety and fear take control.
