Open wounds from oral

by jj102885, Apr 05, 2009 07:28PM
If Hiv is transmitted through blood and semen carries Hiv then how dont you get Hiv through Oral/consumption of semen with a open cut/soar?  I know its said to be no risk when oral sex is involved but i just figured it would be possible with cuts etc.

sure the cut will increase the chance infect HIV, but still lower than unprotected virginal sex, because little virus in slavia. but if you have cut in mouth and performing oral sex swallowed semen or virginal fluids, is risky.

saliva is NOT infectious ! ! !

by jj102885, Apr 05, 2009 10:10PM
So its risky to consume semen in the mouth while open cut etc.?

by Mitch82, Apr 05, 2009 10:23PM
It is not a risk for HIV

by jj102885, Apr 05, 2009 10:24PM
so timithy is incorrect?

Well, maybe my slavia part is doutful. But I can be sure, risk of perform oral sex with cut in mouth exist, even low. semen and virginal fluid contain much virus, when ejaculated on the cut, you have risk.

by jj102885, Apr 05, 2009 11:10PM
i thought i read that there was no risk with cut regardless because of saliva in mouth kills virus regardless...any other opinion on this matter.

by jj102885, Apr 06, 2009 10:13AM
so is there anyone else with an opinion on this matter or is what Timothy say correct?

by jj102885, Apr 06, 2009 01:07PM
can someone please put some input into this issue i have, either its zero risk or not. I dont see how you can still have a cut in your mouth and not be at risk when it needs to come into contact with blood.

Thanks so far.

Saliva not only not being infectious but contains over a dozen different enzymes and proteins that inhibit HIV transmission.

by jj102885, Apr 06, 2009 01:21PM
well i know saliva does not carry the infection but im referring to semen/ precum from oral that comes into contact with a cut etc. Isnt that enough to pass the infection, am in incorrect because timothy had said different,

by Teak, Apr 06, 2009 01:52PM
HIV is not transmitted outside its host. You did not have a risk.

by jj102885, Apr 06, 2009 01:59PM
im talking about giving oral sex and having a open cut inside the mouth, this isnt a risk even with semen/precum. Just seems like it would be.

by Teak, Apr 06, 2009 02:08PM
It's not a risk period. I don't care that you had a cut inside your mouth. You did not have a risk.

by jj102885, Apr 06, 2009 02:17PM
i believe you but for information purposes how is that possible, isnt it blood to blood contact or blood to semen contact etc. i believe you i just would like some info on the subject to become better educated cause its a tad confusing on how it isnt a risk if you think about it, thanks teak.

soo...any info?

Teak already explained to you that saliva acts as an amazing barrier to HIV transmission through open cuts or sores inside your mouth.  The University of California San Francisco tested 239 men who only performed oral sex with other males over ten years, and the rate of HIV transmission was 0%.

by jj102885, Apr 06, 2009 10:23PM
Oh, so the saliva well negate the virus even with open cuts i guess is what your saying. I get it, so if i have any "symptoms" i should just chalk that up as its all in my head and theres no reason to be tested am i correct sir?

Teak, in terms of transmission by oral sex, what did you mean that HIV is not transmitted outside it's host?  Sorry to be graphic, but do you mean that because there is also "air" circulating while performing the act, is that kind of what you mean?  Thank you.
