Oral Sex Risks with poor dental hygiene

Oral Sex Risks with poor dental hygiene

Hi

Understand that oral sex on woman is low risk.

However, I currently have poor dental hygiene - having root canal work, inflammation etc and have one tooth thats open only filled with cotton wool.

Visited prostitute few days ago and in moment of madness performed cunninglingus.

Because of my situation, am I at real risk of developing hiv?

Did I lose the natural protection of my mouth, saliva etc

Please help - have long term partner and dont want to put her at risk because of MY stupidity.

Thanks

In a moment of madness... :) ...Classic...

There was no risk here.

If you care about your partner, get tested at 13 months after the exposure and in the meantime use a condom. However i expect you to test negative. I would not listed to that irresponsible comment. It is just my opinion.

There has NEVER... EVER been a case of someone getting HIV from performing oral on a woman.  To recommend test 13 months (??) after this ZERO risk exposure is the irresponsible comment.

If you're nervous, test at 6-8 weeks.  But only to relieve anxiety.  You were not at risk and neither is your partner if things were as you described.

Hi

Thanks for everyone's help here but would if possible appreciate view from the doctor.

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/qa/qa19.htm

states

"The risk of HIV transmission increases,if the person performing oral sex has cuts or sores around or in their mouth or throat"

Now at the time I performed oral sex, I had an open tooth - only temporarily covered with cotton wool. How stupid is that?

Am I still ok, because there is little HIV in the womans vaginal secretions (if she was positive)?

Or, am I at risk because of bad hygiene, taking course of anti-biotics which is destroying my natural mouths defences etc etc

In any case am going to have the "'Early' HIV-1 Proviral Test
Another way to test for HIV infection, other then looking for antibodies, is to look for the genetic material (DNA/RNA) of the HIV virus itself in a blood sample. One such test is the HIV Proviral DNA test, which uses a complex technique called PCR to detect the virus. This test detects the presence of HIV-1 as early as 10 days following infection and does so with a sensitivity of around 96 to 99%"

But would really appreciate some clarification as to why I should be relaxed about oral sex - particulary in my situation.

Many thanks.
