tongueTongue tie, a "burnt" feeling. This became worse, especially on the sides of my
tongueTongue tie, which I believe might be due to irritation from rubbing on my back molars? But what is causing this? I'm generally an extremely healthy person and never have mouth problems. I don’t know the STD history of my "one time" partner although I do know (after the fact) that he sleeps around.
My
tongueTongue tie now hurts mainly on the sides and feels rubbed raw. Slight burning at front and a sore throat occasionally. There is also a tan film over the surface of my tongue that washes off when I brush but always comes back. I also have joint pain in my left shoulder (although obviously could be unrelated).
I've been to several doctors (PCP to ENT to DMD) and all say that my tongue "looks normal," no visible sores. I have details regarding neg lab work (hsv, hiv, etc) all done at 7 weeks if you need more info. (I was told hsv & hiv were nearly 100% reliable at 7wks, is that true? the HIV test was the HIV AB test). Yesterday my ENT doc said that he can tell there is something "going on" because there are VERY small red dots which many mistake as tastebuds. Apparently they can appear with thrush or bacterial infections? Although, he does not think thrush is the culprit.
My physicians have told me that they are not familiar with oral STD infections and so I turn to your expertise for help. My research keeps me worried about HIV, HSV, HPV...although I know from your posts that this is rare from oral, even when ejaculation was involved. If it is another STI, I also worry that if I leave it untreated...what the outcome will be. What else could be causing this? It all seems too coincidental. Are non-STI bacterial infections common? Or do you have advice on where I should go next to resolve this?
Help! thank you!
I appreciate the reassurance that it's not HIV or HSV.
I have asked him to get tested twice...both times he declined and since then we have stopped communication. Is there a way for me to get tested to rule out all STDs aside from his participation? Are oral swabs accurate? I've been trying to determine what else should be ruled out now that HIV and HSV (and possibly HPV) are determined to not be a cause. If it was another STD and I'm one of the unlucky few that have symptoms...would lack of treatment cause any consequences? 10 weeks of a burning tongue seems really odd....right?
Again, thank you for your help. I really do appreciate it.
There are few if any complications of possible infection to worry about.
I doubt that your buring tongue is related to the expsoure you mention. EWH
You have really set my mind at ease.
Thanks again!!
