Oral sex & rimming on a woman

Dear Doctors

I have viewing this forum for a long time and admire the concise but very compassionate advice you provide on here.  As do many of the regular users.

I am from the United Kingdom.  I recently had a sexual encounter whereby I performed oral se on a woman, she did so on me and we both performed oral anal (rimming) on eachother.  In the morning she said her tongue felt 'torn' or strained from the rimming.  This concerned me in case she may have bled, but I can say that I definitely didn't notice any blood during the night.

Moving onto oral sex and it's risks. I have trawled all the net and in the United Kindom they see it as a 'real' risk although much smaller than unprotected anal or vaginal sex. In fact they say there have been documented cases where oral sex has led to hiv.

I am extremely worried about having contracted hiv this way and have not slept for 5 days or eaten. I know the earliest duo test I can get is at 4 weeks. I'm not sure I can face 3 more weeks of this worry.

Please PLease Please Help,

Many thanks in advance

* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusively negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusively negative results or a no-risk situation will be based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
    * After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
    * Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
    * Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

Just thought it would be interesting for me to post a response I got from Dr Sean Cummings from UK expert forum of medhelp.
This is what he replied.
Your response would be appreciated.

......

Good Morning

Thank you for your post - but please, relax, I am sure you will be fine.

The chances of you meeting a female with HIV in the UK are certainly real but most unlikely. The activities you engaged in are very low risk. There are documented cases where males have acquired HIV from performing oral sex on females but the numbers are really very tiny indeed.

There is no risk to you of acquiring HIV through being sucked.

I have never heard or read of anyone acquiring HIV through rimming - so would grade that as an exceptionally low risk, if at all.

I hope taht helps settle some of the anxiety for you.

best wishes, Sean

No risk for HIV with rimming either

So I take it there is no risk with the rimming either?

Teak you're a legend but I just wish so many reputable websites in the UK wouldn't blow the risk as very real.
My mind is of a similiar opinion to yours. Thank you for your time and to Lizzie.
God Bless

There is no debate (among experts) about the HIV risks associated with oral sex. The risk is so low that almost nobody who cares for HIV infected patients has ever had a patient believed to have been infected that way. Among experts, it's a semantic issue about using terms like "no risk" and "very low risk". There is no difference between my or Dr. Hook's use of "low risk" and other experts' "no risk".
DR. HANSFIELD

"And oral sex is basically safe sex -- completely safe with respect to HIV and although not zero risk for other STDs, the chance of infection is far lower than for unprotected vaginal or anal sex. Please educate yourself about the real risks. If you stick with oral sex and condom-protected vaginal or anal sex, you have no HIV worries and very little worry about other STDs. " DR HANSFIELD

"I am sure you can find lots of people who believe that HIV is transmitted by oral sex, but you will not find scientific data to support this unrealistic concern..." DR HOOK

"HIV is not spread by touching, masturbation, oral sex or condom protected sex."- DR. HOOK

in the public HIV Prevention forum of MedHelp, TEAK and the other moderators maintain that oral sex in all forms is a zero risk activity. Would you agree with this assessment?
I TOTALLY AGREE / DR GARCIA
"HIV is not spread by masturbation, through oral sex, through kissing or other casual contact." Dr. Hook
"The observation on thousands and thousands of observations is that HIV is not spread by oral sex (of any sort)." DR HOOK
"I would not say your risk ,if he had HIV is "slim to none"- that's too high.  I would say they are effectively zero.  How much of his ejaculate or other genital  secretions you may have swallowed makes no difference.  EWH "
"As far as HIV is concerned, there is no known risk of getting HIV from performing oral sex on an infected partner, even if that person's genital secretions get into your eyes or if you swallow." Dr.Hook

What I meant by my last comment Lizzie was there are GUM or even Sexual health websites in UK which rather than just saying oral sex is a 'theoretical' risk of hiv state that there has been documented cases where hiv has occured this way.
I don't mean this to be be a 'yeh but, what if but no but ' kind of discussion and I know that HIV test is only way to definitely know.
The somewhat contradictory statements on certain websites make me confused.
Again thank you for your help.
By the way how do I post on the international forum?

I just find the advice on the net in UK confusing as in documented risk of infection via Oral Sex.
