Oral sex with a canker sore

Hi all,

Last night I engaged in unprotected oral sex on a partner of unknown status. I said he was HIV- but what he said doesn't mean much now does it? So bottom line I have a canker sore that's pretty well healed, doesn't hurt anymore and not really an open wound per say. Would engaging in this activity given the cold sore be considered really high-risk event? I'm going to my doctor tomorrow to ask her opinion but I'm really starting to freak out. Do you think this sort of potential exposure would warrant a course of PEP?

You were never at risk nor do you need to test or take nPEP.

You did not have a risk and you definitely do not need nor do you qualify for nPEP.

Oral sex has low risk of contracting HIV, but possibility of being infected with HIV is much less than that of unprotected vaginal or anal sex.
So, if you worry about that, do a  test. However your result will almost be negative.

Thanks for your help! Made me feel much better. I'm going to put this out of my head. I'm a really worrier so I still may go to my doc to be sure, but I don't think I really need to.
