PCR-Viral Load Test

I had unprotected anal sex with a guy.  My doctor ordered a rapid hiv, hep. c and a prc or pcr viral load test.  This was after 16 days after exposure.  The rapid hiv and hep c test were neg. (non reactive) the prc viral load test came back no detectable limits or as my doctor states negative.  Is this a conclusive test that I was not exposed to hiv?  Your help would be greatly appreciated... What is this prc or pcr viral load test? Thanks

Just because on gets a nondetectable viral load does not mean they are NOT infectious. I have received a nondetectable viral load for the last 4 years and I can tell you I am infectious.

Lizzie gave you the CORRECT guidelines for testing in your other thread.

PCR tests can provide a good indication of one's status but are not approved to give a conclusive result. You still need a 3 month antibody test.

I just read that your partner said that he is negative  and he is married.so very sure thing that he is realy negaive, but if you are a person that do not trust anyone,so 16 days is not conclusive for pcr ,I think it is 28 days for PCR  and for rapid test you should wait 6-8 to be sure.It is good idea that you just search on this site about anal sex and hiv test ,you can find so many information and your anxiety goes down if you know even if he is positive (I can not see any reason that when a person married to another person want to lie to you!!!!!!!)there is only 1/100 or 1/200 you cacth hiv from one unprotected anal sex.be relax.just to be sure repeat the test ,just for anxiety.
