PEP?

I am a female who had sex with an HIV positive male last night, and at the beginning of vaginal intercourse we had unprotected sex for about 1-2 minutes.  From what I could tell there was no pre-cum, but of course I can't be certain.  I made him put on a condom after that.  He is bisexual and has had unprotected sex with men that he has disclosed his status to.  So far as he knows, he has no other STDs; however this has not been confirmed by labs in the past couple of months.  I, to my knowledge, have no STDs and no h/o STDs.  His VL is undetectable, 100% med adherance, and CD4 500-600s.  I am questioning right now if I should go on prophylaxis...time is ticking.

I pretty much figured.  I would tell anyone else the same.  Ironically I'm RN and have worked infectious disease and an HIV clinic...going to the doctors now.

yes you should as you had unprotected intercourse with him...even though the time of exposure is very short, its better to be on the safe side and get PEP..go speak to a doctor immediately and start taking PEP

Just because he is undetectable in his serum levels does not make him undetectable in his precum or semen. You have 72 hours to start nPEP. See a doctor and discuss it.
