Please Guide

I am from India. I used to visit Sex Workers in my Local Area. Out of the 25-30 sexual encounters with them 2 - 3 were unprotected. But this happened way back in the Year 1992 i.e. nearly 15 years back. I got married in the year 2000, eight years after I completely stopped my nonsense. My wife was tested for HIV in the year 2001 as she was pregnant. Her HIV test turned NEGATIVE. Please guide me on the following points and oblige.

1. Can I get HIV / Aids for the Blunder committed 15 years back ?

2. I got married 8 years after abstaining totally from outside sex. After marriage I have had unprotected sex with my Wife practically every day for one year before she was tested for HIV. If she was tested HIV NEGATIVE what are the confirm chances that I may be HIV Positive or Negative.

Please guide me on my above doubt for my peace of mind.

Thanks and regards
Chandrakant.

Thanx everyone Actually I got tested on Monday and fortunately the test was Negative. I really feel for those who are positive and are living with HIV. I can understand for the trauma I have gone through for last one month and will not forget it the whole of my life. I sincerely pray to GOD to provide us with a remedy for HIV because along with the people who have committed mistakes HIV is also killing innocent people ( especially housewives in India and New Borns ) for no mistake of theirs.

One thing it was the case of Teak which frigthened me and provoked me to go for the test. Thanx and prayers for everyone in this forum.

He had unprotected sex with his for an year before she was tested. and she was tested negative after 1 year unprotected sex. which means he didn;t have HIV.

is that not true?  Also HIV was not wide spread in India during 90's.

Considering all of these, I think he is in the clear....

you could get tested man, should be neg.

I took an HIV test when they first came out. I tested positive at that time 1984. I never had a symptom or had an illness for 21 years. Being a LTNP I didn't even start HAART till April 2005. That is how I know my status. So your 15 years maximum is incorrect. People can and do live with HIV longer than your 15 year maximum.

Not always true, but how can you be sure you acquired in 21 years ago.
And most scieintific info available put the latent period at arounf 15 years maximum.

That is not always true at all. I went 21 years without being unwell and as you can see I'm not dead either.

If you contracted HIV 15 years back, you would be dead or extremely unwell by now.

1. If you have never been tested, yes it is possible the you could have contracted HIV.
2. You should have tested .

1) Yes, but very unlikely based on 2-3 unprotected encounters assuming it was vaginal sex with a female.

2) Go get an antibody test. You could theoretically have sex everyday with your wife for the rest of your life and not transmit it to her.
