Please guide me !

Hi ,

I had unprotected vaginal sex with an unknown female on the 26th of August , 2013 and have been fearing contracting HIV since then. But on 26th September exactly 4 weeks later i went in for a 4th generation HIV antibody and antigen testing and my result came out with as NON reactive with the index value of 0.12 and my questions are as follows .

1) do i need to test from a different method in order to conclude my HIV status or is this test completely reliable ?

2) what are the chances of my test turning from a negative to a positive with the fact that i have not had any risky encounter after the previous one ?

3) is the test result at 4 weeks completely conclusive ?

Thanks and regards.

Please dont go by the symptoms. Your test indicates your status. Confirm the NEGATIVE result 3 months after your exposure  and try to control your anxiety.

Hi
Thank you so much for your reply, but i had another question i have been experiencing a severe headache along with swollen nodes in my neck and slight dry coughing too but this has been after i took the DUO test. do you think i am seroconverting now and the symptoms are dur to HIV and that i might end up being on the positive.

There are no tests marketed or sold to give a conclusive negative test earlier than three months post exposure.

Hi,

an hiv duo test is accurate. You can confirm the result though 3 months after your last exposure for the peace of your mind. It is highly unlikely that the negative result will change.
