Please help! Cut on hand, extremely concerned!

I don't even have sex or inject drugs but everyday i worry about hiv! Today I cut myself on my finger. It was a small tiny cut, more like a pinprick but enough to bleed a little. It was tiny so I didn't bother putting a bandaid. 5-6 hours later I went to the mall and touched a lot of doors. Obviously I didn't see any visible blood on the doors but my cut was definitely still hurting and still fresh. I dabbed it on the tissue and there was a drop or two of blood on the tissue so would this classify as an open wound? What if there was blood on the doors and I came in contact with it? I am SO worried!! I know hiv isn't passed from environmental surfaces but does my wound classify as a portal for infection? How bad does the wound have to be for hiv to enter the bloodstream? please help, I can't get tested I've never even had sex or done drugs!

YOU CAN CONTRACT HIV BY SMALL , MEDIUM AND KING SIZE CUTS BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX WITH HIV INFECTED PERSONS........

I'm sorry I don't understand your answer. Are you saying there is no risk in me testing? I don't want to test. I'm too scared to test. I just want to hear a simple  "NO RISK"

Ok. So from my incident, I have no reason to worry, I am NOT at risk and I do NOT need testing right? Can I move on knowing I am safe? Please just answer like 'yes you are safe'.

First point , we are not employees of MEDHELP ,  we are all volunteers , when we get free time , we will help people , i hope you understand.

Knife fight :

1) HIV will transmit blood to blood contact , Read my first reply , You need to bleed (Not like your mini cut) , then u have to contact with HIV infected people, Example , if i punch someone with my bleeding hand continuously and he also bleeding then there is a chance. Also in that case which you refereed he is 69 years old man , and also attacker VIRAL LOAD is very high.

2) They called as "KNIFE FIGHT" , Think your self , how Attacker knife will get his own blood, I believe NO ONE STABBED by self and then attack others, Its fight , No one knows what exactly happened. I believe both bleeding , may be while fight they rolling each other who knows.?

So Nothing will happen with your mini cut , Think like , in whole world many of them has mini cut on the same day which you had , many of them went to mall , many of them opened the door , if this is the way daily we will get ton of people into HIV+.

So Dont over thinking, Just move on ,

IF Still you are worrying , i request you to consult with your doctor and get test your self .

I understand what you're saying, but I read an article about a man being infected in a knife fight & that has caused me to question everything. The knife would've been exposed to oxygen so how did he still get hiv? Or is the question here he got hiv from the other person bleeding into his wounds? Nobody clarifies this for me hence I keep looking for answers and keep scaring myself more. The article is documented on aidsmap and poz forums as well. If you search for it you can definitely find it on google. Please tell me something in regards to this article so that it would ease my worries because I know hiv isn't passed on from environmental surfaces but a knife is an environmental surface/object isn't it?

If your parents won't let you take medication for your OCD, would they at least consider allowing you to receive therapy to help you deal with it? Could you discuss this option with them?

Maybe it's your OCD or simply a lack of education about HIV that is causing you so much anxiety. Learning about things we are afraid of often helps us deal with that fear in a much more rational manner.
One of the best ways to learn about HIV and how to prevent it is to come to the HIV Prevention Forum here and just read a lot of posts and the replies.........you will learn a great deal. Your particular question is asked  a lot.

There are three (3) ways a person can contract HIV.

1) UNPROTECTED INSERTIVE VAGINAL/ANAL SEX WITH HIV+ PARTNER

2) SHARING DRUG WORKS (NEEDLES) WITH AN HIV+ PERSON

3) HIV+ MOTHER TO UNBORN CHILD

Do you see anything in there are little nicks on your fingers and door knobs at the mall? NO. Because it is NOT A RISK!

Here is a very short article about this subject. Read it slowly and carefully. If you have any questions, ask me.

Studies have proven time and time again that HIV does not survive well outside the human body.
IN ARTIFICIALLY HIGH CONCENTRATIONS PRODUCED IN THE LAB, HIV drying that occurs outside of the body reduces the number of infectious viral particles by 99 percent in just a few hours. SINCE THE CONCENTRATION OF HIV IN BLOOD OR OTHER BODILY FLUIDS IS MUCH LOWER, HIV drying outside the human body virtually eliminates all infectious HIV particles therefore making the risk of HIV infection from blood or bodily fluids outside the body essentially zero.

Please relax. Please learn about HIV.

Thank you. Your answer puts my mind at ease. This OCD of mine has suddenly surfaced and it's starting to ruin my life. Not taking meds because my parents won't let me (harmful side affects etc) but I suppose I have to learn to manage it through other ways like keeping myself busy

Small cuts are never a worry.  Put it out of your mind.  Let the anxiety pass.  Are you seeking help for your HIV fear?  I am a fellow HIV worrier - I have OCD - and it has taken a lot for me to realize that touching surfaces with a fresh small cut on hand is NO RISK.

It is also my understanding that once blood leaves the body HIV becomes inactive immediately.  You have no worries, believe me.

Ok thank you. But can you just tell me the definition of an open wound with regards to hiv transmission? Would it be a paper cut type of wound or a severely bleeding wound which would require stitches and medical attention? I need to understand this so the next time I get a scratch or two I don't freak out!

You NEVER had a risk!
Your anxiety would be better served by educating yourself about HIV rather than reading Google garbage.

Nursegirl or Lizzie Lou can anyone of you please address my concern? Please help! I'm getting severe paranoia! How can a man get hiv from a knife wound if you all agree that environmental objects cannot transmit hiv? In my case, I touched doors with a cut on my hand that was slightly bleeding but not enough to warrant a bandaid. It was a very tiny scratch but it did bleed so am I at risk from touching a door that could be contaminated?

But then how did a man get infected in a knife fight? It's a reported case, you can google it. If he got hiv from a knife then that means hiv can live outside the body?

Did you read this

"HIV will not live outside of the body"

So if I touched a door with blood on it, I would have noticed the blood from the door get on my hand right? It would have to be a lot of blood right?

HIV will not live outside of the body , small tiny cut will not be the portal for HIV. You should bleed some big cut.
