all over my body swell up since my exposure on jan. 6 and this has never happened before. They still swell up from time to time from my arm pits, behind ears
, chest, lower back and groin. I can't get an explanation from anyone and that's what scares me. These are not normal body sensations and they have been going on for so long. How can you be so sure that 3 months in 100% conclusive? and please do not just state conclusive time to move on. An explanation would be appreciated
Hi Toni,
Im not a Doctor but it sounds like u hve a touch of glandgelier Fever
excuce the spelling....... Be Thankful if u been tested from 3 to 6 months
you dont hve HIV .....SO BE GREATFULL MY FRIEND ......
its a tough question, let me try,for every action there is an opposite reaction...likewise when someone has a strange bacteria or virus or a foreign body that enters a person the body trigers an immune response to fight it...no matter how strong the persons immune system may be, in our situation its hiv, which attacks the cd4 cells circulating allover the body via the blood, almost all people will have the virus starting to multiply in millions as early as 3 to 4 days, so the bodys next job is to produse antibodies to defend which invariably starts of around the same time, to have sufficient of the ab to be detected it can take 3 to 4 weeks, so hence the usual period where u can be very sure is 8 weeks so still being concervative its 12 weeks.... So our body is in such a way it has to produse antibodies as soon as the virus start to replicate... Otherwise there is some thing else, probably on chemotherapy, or on high steroids or latestage hep C but even for them they do test positive in 3 months if they have the virus... So where is the problem and u are no exception... We are all humans afterall. So relax as there are no reported cases of someone becoming positive later than 3 monts unless probably if he or she was on PEP but even they would have results confirmed in 3 monts hope it helps bye, thanks for reading the long story
You have never heard or encountered anyone who has tested negative at three months and came back to test positive later from same exposure? sorry for the pestering i just have a serious girlfriend now and would not want to infect her
the only ppl who would need to test past 3 months are those on chemotherapy, taking anti-rejection drugs, and CHRONIC, longterm iv drug abusers. with the sensitivity of today's tests...even that is being debated.
your test was RELIABLE and CONCLUSIVE...proving that you do NOT have hiv.
Lizzie is very correct. just a clarification Mr tony dont misunderstand me, hiv related lymph nodes do not last this long, they are usually painless and they last for a week not this long... I am sure many on this forum would disagree with me, but my personal opinion would be,if you are overly concerned or worried , probably you are doubting the results.... Why dont you visit testing centers that cater specifically to hiv counseling and testing ,just take a rapid test, and you can put your mind to rest for good. And start consulting ur doctor to find the causes for ur symptoms that are not hiv related??? Why dont u try this and see and get back.
First to Tony, I understand your worries, and anxiety. living with this symtoms (symptoms) is not easy. I wish the government would do something about this hiv dease. But we are the government aren't we? We need to tell the president we had enough of this deseases which has been going on for 3 decades maybe more. unfortunately, Our kids do not have the freedome to experiment sex in a responsilble way because of this men made deseases. And this is a very big problem for the new generation.our grandfathers had the opportunity to experiment with sex more than the new generation. Though such a greate man and president, look at president clinto's relationship and I am sure there is many more within our government, specially in the opposite party. Yet, They don't do a thing to come up with a cure for hiv, cancer, hepatitis why? I ask my self. Because the fact of obtaining many, many millions of dollars from pharmaceutical companies who chooses which drugs are good enough to make you feel well, not cure the disease. Now having said that, regarding how you became ill maybe through your girl friend or a friend, it dosen't matter and should never be a shame of it. it is a human instinct to have sexual feeling toward woman if you are a man and a man if you are a woman, as long as is wihin the law. My main point don't be ashame of it. speak up, round some groups let the govenment know, go in to the medical field and help other to look for the cure. It makes me sick to my stomach seen all of this young people suffering, living with the tought in mind of goals coming to end and despertation, just because the govenment does nothing to come up with a cure, thinking this does not happen in my family. Wait a minute aren't we the govenment? This does not mean that you have HIV TONNY, totally the opposite, I PRAY TO JESUS CHRIST THAT THIS AND OTHER DEASES WILL NEVER TOUCH YOUR BODY AND WILL KEEP YOU HEALTHY AND WILL GIVE YOU A LIFE TIME TO SMILE AND ENJOY LIFE. Sory about all the words, to much writing, since I am not a doctor I've decided to give you this words of consolation. because your symtoms (symptoms) are my symtoms (symptoms). Faith in prayer is power and prayer in power is Faith
Do my symptoms sound typical of hiv? I had my test at 14 weeks with an elisa test sent to labcorp don't know which generation is that reliable!? There 3 month duration is what worries me..

dear friends sorry to hear of these unknown signs that are actually not hiv related...bemused to know what you are going through, my prayers are with you all. I am sure doctors in the US with all the advancements will surely be able to tell and diagnose and cure the issue troubling. Get well soon.my heart goes out to you.
Tony, it is very important that you don't lock yourself up in this HIV mode.By keeping your focus on HIV you risk overlooking something more serious. I don't mean to scare you, swollen lymph nodes can be completely benign. But you have to get this checked out - now that you have eliminated HIV, you and your doctor must move on and find the true cause.
Thank you for all responses, you don't understand how much they are appreciated!! I have been to the dr. three times and they still can not figure it out and thats why I stay worried. At 10.5 weeks post exposure got tested for everything under the sun and they did cbc all was negative and cbc was normal. The last dr. i went to did not have alot to say about symptoms and just prescribed me with doxycycline. I am doing my best to not think about hiv believe me i am.. But since nobody has told me yet whats going on and with ongoing symptoms its just difficult but I am doing my best..I really don't know what to think. again thank you for your support
No I believe the only tests done were for std's at the 10.5 week mark. The test at 14 weeks was just for HSV and HIV. I also know it seems when I drink beer that the symptoms seem to get worse don't know if that has any relevance or not.
I think it could be relevant to you should tell your doc. Both EBV and Hepatitis (obviously) are hard on the liver, and they can both caused generalized lymphadenoathy. I definitely think you should bring it up with your doctor.
