Please take a Peak

I know this is the HIV forum, I posted here too, because I know this is the most frequented forum, and there are a lot of folks that have knowledge in both areas.

1.5 grams of Zithromax single dose
Doxicycline 4 days
1.250 grams of Zithromax single dose

All anitbiotics consumed in a period of approx 3 weeks

above antiboitics taken 3 days prior to chlamydia/gonorea testing.

I have been tested for, HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis 1/2 gonorea, chlamydia & UTI.

All tests results were negative except for chlamydia.

1 out of 3 chlamydia tests were positive.

I had urethera burning and right testicle pain with a very very very slight amount of discharge.
I tested positive once for chlamydia, I do not know exactly what the test protocol was. I just know that I had a swab done, and the doctor looked at the swab smear through a microscope and added some liquid. He said I was positive for chlamydia.

He gave some erythromcin, I took one capsule, the next day I tested negative via a WB count swab test. The WB was 2.

Both docotors said I had swelling within the right testicle (epididimitis) sp

The doc that said I was positive gave me 3 weeks supply of Erythromycin. On the 9th day of taking the meds, I had another clamydia (chlamydia) PCR, gonorea, & UTI test done. All negative.

I quit the meds after 2 weeks, symptoms returned. No doc has tested seminal fluids yet.

I am on schedule for a mycoplasma test tomorrow at a research facility. I was told they would take a BLOOD SAMPLE.

The questions are:

1) is a blood sample the protocol for a PCR test for mycoplasma?
2) What other tests do you recommend?
3) Does the fact that I was on Erythromicin negate the test results for the negative chlamydia PCR
4) Would a negative chlaymida PCR cover for a prostate invasion of chlamydia?

Please help, I thank you tons for your response

1.  I don't think there is any way you have chlamydia
2.  I don't think there is any way you have any other STD, so I don't recommend any more tests.
3.  NGU from oral sex is common, and I think mycoplasma could be one of the things that causes it.  Good news is that NGU is not dangerous and should eventually go away without any serious consequences.  They don't even test for mycoplasma and such in the US, because there is no data showing that it causes any harm.
4.  You could be getting prostatitis/epidydimytis just because you're not a teenager anymore.  Maybe that's what's going on, unrelated to sex altogether.

You should be happy as hell by now. You dodged a bullet and should be moving on. You are one of the lucky ones.

This is the study I was thinkin about that talks about NGU.
As you see Mycoplasma is not associated with oral sex, so it's not likely to be your problem.
I don't think you'll find out what is your problem, but it will likely pass on its own.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the present study was to determine pathogens and behaviors associated with nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) and the usefulness of the urethral smear in predicting the presence of pathogens. METHODS: We conducted a case-control study of men with and without symptoms of NGU. Sexual practices were measured by questionnaire. First-stream urine was tested for Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Ureaplasma parvum, U. urealyticum, herpes simplex virus (HSV)-1, HSV-2, adenoviruses, and Gardnerella vaginalis by polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: C. trachomatis (20%), M. genitalium (9%), adenoviruses (4%), and HSV-1 (2%) were more common in cases with NGU (n = 329) after age and sexual risk were adjusted for (P< or =.01); U. urealyticum, U. parvum, and G. vaginalis were not. Infection with adenoviruses or HSV-1 was associated with distinct clinical features, oral sex, and male partners, whereas infection with M. genitalium or C. trachomatis was associated with unprotected vaginal sex. Oral sex was associated with NGU in which no pathogen was detected (P  or =5 PMNLs/HPF is not sufficiently sensitive to exclude pathogens in men with urethral symptoms.

Reg Joe,

I appreciate your input. The thing is, whatever this is, has been an on going battle for 2 months, and there seems to be some reactive arthritis setting in. Unilateral, right ankle & the ankle had undergone some trauma within the last 2.5 months. If u read over reactive arthritis and the way chlamydia, or bacteria infections work on lower limbs....  it does cause some pause.

Here is some things that do not add up.

1) Symptom onset, within 12-14 hours.  I have read a lot, but I don't know of any STD that does that

Which leads one to believe that it is a reaction to something else, like Non. 9

Hey, to be really blunt, the condom was supplied by her, and I could not read the packageing, it was not in English. It could have said "Laced with arsnic" for all I know.

But these symptoms such as:

1) Testicular pain
2) Slight - minimal morning clear discharge
3) Burning sensation during ejaculation (manual stimulation)
4) Lower spasmodic lower back pain during ejaculation (manual stim)
5) slight buning to itch sensation in urethera (sp) during the day and especially after urinating

All of this symptoms  essentially show up if I get off of erythromicin.   The testicular pain is what is really makeing me go crazy. I am currently off of Erythromicin, and have been for about 7 days. The doc put me on another drug designed to fight micrplasma (Cravit) but the symptoms have not subsided, actually they have gotten worse.  Which makes me think this is not mycoplasma either.

Maybe 3-4 years ago I had right testicular pain, much like what I have now. It lasted 3-4 months, non medicated etc. I knew it had nothing to do with sex, because I did not have any so I never did anything about it. Sometimes I wonder if this is related to that episode.  I just turned 35 which is the "begining" figure for non sexually related prostate issues. I can hardly believe that the fact that I am 35 and a few days old have anything to do with this.  SO this has been a big puzzle.

Big Dummy.....  Yes I have about as NEGATIVE finding for HIV as one could hope for. But I have a forgiving wife, that wants to get over this hump, and move on. She also wants another baby, in a bad way....  picked out names etc.  I have a huge responsability on my hands of making sure I am as clean as possible (virgin material) before we have sex again. It is a big weight, one that I never even thought about when my testarone was fired up....  So stupid, so very stupid.

And if you saw the condition of this hooker....  Bikin scar...   and knew what chlam can do to a woman....   you too would fear for your wife

I hope I live to have a wife one day. And kids too. This board is getting depressing again. I have to find something to do today. I have a hemroid the size of and M&M with the peanut in it, but it is annoying. I don't know if that is an HIV symptom, but I've always had them. And dairy brings them on, and I ate a lot of cheesecake last wk.

You seem like a cool person, your one of the people who have had kind words towards me and I appreciate that. I pray for nothing but the best for you and your family.

BD,  If I could I would take u to the clinic myself.  You need to get this monkey off of you back, the mental stress is really unhealthy.

Funny you got nut problem in the rear, and my right nut feels like someone clamped a vice grip on the thing.  Dang it, I never knew things like this could happen to me.

My wife, for some weird saddist reason has made it a point to show off her finer attributes! Like stepping out is a good thing or something....  and here I am, I got nothing to offer, but a gimp and a limp....  uhh the pain makse me nasueas...  litterally.

Now go get tested!
