the nurse used the thermometer which was kept directly in the table not in any solution & she used the same thermometer few mins before to another patient & my doubt is ,what if the previous patient had HIV
& if they happen to have fresh bleeding inside their mouth & few blood drops of it still sticking to the thermometer & the same thermometer has been used on me for checking my temperature
without cleaning,is there any possibility of me getting infected by this means. The main reason why am asking is this i have fresh bleeding inside the mouth. So is there any chance/possibility me getting infected through my fresh bleeding?
host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.
Thanks once again teak,
I have another doubt too pls clarify that also,If a person with freshly bleeding wound comes in contact with a fresh blood drop which has fallen on the table / other surfaces hardly few seconds prior from a HIV patient,is there any possibility of getting infected?
Thanks teak, the reason for this entire scenario is that i got throat pain immediately with few hrs after using that thermometer which was used to the another patient just 2 mins prior to my check up...
Dear Aveelite,
I do also know that hospitals know to clean it but the entrire thread is all about if in case the thermometer is not cleaned before using it on next patient due to carelessness.
After this incident for the past 2 days am suffering from throat pain & feverish too so am worried.Only that contaminated thermometer has caused some infection to me i guess.
