Possible Exposure

Dear Doctor,
First and foremost, I have enjoyed reading your columns. They are very helpful. I am writing because I have seen a similar situation on your site.  Here it goes: I had a sexual encounter with a homeless woman. She performed unprotected oral sex on my penis and anus. While performing oral sex on my anus she got quite aggressive. As a result, the are around my anus and anus felt chaffed the following day. It felt almost like she bit me or used her teeth.  Since I cannot see that area am wondering if the skin was broken and "if" the woman was HIV positive, could I be infected. After the incident I noticed that her lip was swollen of the left side. I do not know what was going on with her lip but I am scared as heck. What to do?

The exposure you describe is zero risk.  To see more about such encounters please see the earlier exchanges over the past week or so by both Dr. Handsfield and I with our client whose pseudonym is primetimemsc.  One link to this is listed below.  Beyond that I have nothing more to say.  EWH
