Pre-Test Do's and Don't

Pre-Test Do's and Don't

It seems crazy but it must be stated. If you have a coffee before you take the Orasure swab test, will it effect the result.

If the tests are so sensitive, can't they also be easily thrown off?

I had the last sip probably 5 minutes before I swabbed my gums.

Thanks.

Firs off an OraSure oral swab is not all that sensitive. Techially it doesn't matter what you drink it's that you don't eat or brush before testing.

Not sensitive? That's surprising.  Perhaps we are talking about two different tests.  It was a rapid test and I thought I have seen several times that these modern tests are all very sensitive.

You've stated this in another post concerning specific testing accuracy...

" Oraquick Advance is 98.5-99.9%
Oraquick is 99.6% and 100.0%
OraSure is greater than 99% "

Can you clarify?

I took an Oraquick Rapid test via swabbing my gums.

The names are all so similar but this is the one I took.

Oraquick Rapid Test: This test is done either by manually swabbing the gums or by a quick blood draw via a needle-*****. Results are available within 20 minutes.

its not about the test. the test are very good when there are dectectable antibodies. if you have antibodies the test will show pos. if you dont then you might be negative. or your immune did not make them yet. no doctor or science know why a human makes antibodies in 25 days, three months. or whenever. everyone is diffferent.

The oral swab test are not as sensitive as the blood test and are not reliable when testing earlier than 3 months.

Teak im kind of confused so on the mouth swab test how long after you brush your teeth do you need to wait to take the test?

I believe what he meant was that if you brush your teeth, like in the waiting room, then go take the test.

With everyone so tense and walking on a razor's edge, communication in these forums can be difficult.  I've been there.

But I've posted on a few other forums this seem question and my fear has come back unfounded.  The tests (as you and I both know deep down) are super sensitive and I'm guessing if the FDA approved it, that virtually a monkey could perform the test correctly.
