Question about Lymph Nodes

by ronaldo81, Sep 17, 2007 02:38PM
When enlarged lymph nodes occur in ARS:

1- are they large enough so that they can be detected by the naked eye or u wont be able to see them even if u check carefully?
2- Where do they occur?
3- Can swollen lymph nodes alone be ARS or other symptoms need to accompany it?

Thanks guys

Frist, ARS symptoms always come with other symptoms at once and all with a high fever. Seconds, You should never go by symtpoms, just test at the appropriate time. Third, From what i have read on the Living with HIV/AIDS forum, everyone on there who is postive always says that there nodes were so large that they were poking out from there neck. They all said that they were easily seen from other people, with that said that doesnt necessarily mean that yours would do the same but it gives you a generall idea.

so if I cant see any noticable enlargment in the lymph nodes then it means they are not swollen due to ARS? because I am having a slight pain in my neck and under my armpit but I cant see any swelling

There is no definitive set of symptoms for ARS.

You're probably worrying about nothing. If the swelling is due to ARS all the nodes in your body would be affected. When people hear that swollen lymph nodes are a symptom they tend to poke around and try to see if they are (I know I did), and it is always easy to find something that you might consider a 'swollen lymph node'. In your case, from the description you gave, I would say your nodes are not swollen.
