Question about Planned Parenthood/HIV Experience

I apologize for this post. I promise I am not trying to become a compulsive poster, but I had a question about my experience at Planned Parenthood.

I performed unprotected oral sex on another man (a stripper at a club) for a couple minutes. Dr. Hook said no risk for HIV, but when I went in for a gonorrhea test at Planned Parenthood, the nurse practitioner was "overly" concerned about HIV and suggested I test at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months. This has got me worked up a little bit. Could someone please comment on this for me. Have others had similar experiences at Planned Parenthood? Should I be concerned about HIV? I know from these boards you say "no risk" for oral sex, but I would appreciate any additional thoughts.

Thank you

Teak, I can honestly personally say that 1 Planned Parenthood establishment did tell me to test every 3 months for a yr to make sure im not infected. Although some of them may not know exactly what they are talking about im sure most do. Like Teak said trust what you are told.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I was surprised when she told me this and it actually made me question her knowledge on the subject after what i had read here. As an FYI, she was also concerned about my potential exposure to hepatitis.

She told 99% of the cases 3 months is enough until and unless you are on antiviral then you also need to test at 6 months.  Sorry I didnt add that to my previous comment

Let me add you my experience,
i had oral sex with a women, and went for Hiv test at public health, the doc said she have not seen atleast one case who affected with oral. But she still told me if you want conclusive result then you need to test at 3 months and 6 months.  I guess she told for conclusive sake but she knows that HIV is not transmitted through oral/

As in you don't need to test up to a year ... even by old testing standards you never had to test for up to a year
