Question about oral sex risk with swallowing

I am a 17 year old female. About a week ago, I performed oral sex on a casual date, and I swallowed his semen. Since then, I have had a sore upper back, and a sore throat. No other symptoms yet. But I am terrified about the idea of HIV, i found out after the date that he is promiscuous. I am aware a test now would be in vain, but I wish I had a way to get tested now. I plan on being tested after the 6 week period. Can anyone tell me the risk associated with HIV with oral sex performed by a girl? Is this all in my head, and is my internet seaching just getting the better of me?

If anyone come and tell something credible against what you say, you just delete the posts?

It is this forum's stance that oral sex does not transmit HIV.  This thread has served it's purpose, and will now be closed.

There is no need to get mad with anything I had said. I'm not posting my opinion, I'm posting what REAL studies and CREDIBLE HIV information sources says. We all agree that oral sex is a low risk practice but, is not good to say it is risk free if there are many discussion about this topic. I can say, "Touching a person HIV positive is completely risk free"... this fact can be said because there is NO debate about the topic and there have been no documented cases about it. Also, there are documented cases of people saying they were infected by oral sex. This is really hard to determinate, because as I said... most of people never engaged only in this practice. Do we know if they were? No, that's why it is debated.... I can be HIV positive now because a 1% (just to say a percentage from  the interval 0.5% to 8% CDC gives to us) doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I'm doing research in provability on genetic variability... Do you know what is the percentage of people getting a lottery of 6 numbners from 75 numbers?? 4.8 * 10^-8 %. Although people win. Although, it happens.

Thanks a lot for all your help. I agree a little with you with the conservative fact you mentioned. Believe me, this anxiety is killing me... I don't eat and can't concentrate in college classes... What do you think about a 60 day test?

Although, you should say oral sex is LOW RISK but NO RISK FREE.

Sincerly, Thanks

quotes from the cdc do NOT impress me AT ALL !

for starters...they are scare mongers who never update their information and website...who love to adhere to theories...who is ULTRA conservative / so much so that they would probably be happy if no one EVER had sex again ! ! !

you can quote all you want...it doesnt change the fact that hiv is not transmitted by oral sex.  it doesnt happen ! ! !

Is really hard to find a person who has never engaged in vaginal or anal sex intercourse and is active in oral sex.  Here is a quote...

"Yes, it is possible for either partner to become infected with HIV through performing or receiving oral sex, though it is a less common mode of transmission than other sexual behaviors (anal and vaginal sex). There have been a few cases of HIV transmission from performing oral sex on a person infected with HIV. While no one knows exactly what the degree of risk is, evidence suggests that the risk is less than that of unprotected anal or vaginal sex.

If the person performing oral sex has HIV, blood from their mouth may enter the body of the person receiving oral sex through

the lining of the urethra (the opening at the tip of the penis);
the lining of the vagina or cervix;
the lining of the anus; or
directly into the body through small cuts or open sores.
If the person receiving oral sex has HIV, their blood, semen (cum), pre-seminal fluid (pre-cum), or vaginal fluid may contain the virus. Cells lining the mouth of the person performing oral sex may allow HIV to enter their body.

The risk of HIV transmission increases

if the person performing oral sex has cuts or sores around or in their mouth or throat;
if the person receiving oral sex ejaculates in the mouth of the person performing oral sex; or
if the person receiving oral sex has another sexually transmitted disease (STD)."

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/qa/transmission.htm

Thats from USA Government Dept of Health...

Just asking, why people say there is not a risk? Ok, I accept the RISK IS LOW, but NO RISK?

look dude...MY SON HAS HIV.  do you think i am on this forum to lie to ppl???  oh pleeeeez ! ! !  just because you are unable to accept your no risk does not mean that ppl on this forum are lieing.

There is no debate (among experts) about the HIV risks associated with oral sex.  The risk is so low that almost nobody who cares for HIV infected patients has ever had a patient believed to have been infected that way.  Among experts, it's a semantic issue about using terms like "no risk" and "very low risk".  There is no difference between my or Dr. Hook's use of "low risk" and other experts' "no risk".
DR. HANSFIELD

"And oral sex is basically safe sex -- completely safe with respect to HIV and although not zero risk for other STDs, the chance of infection is far lower than for unprotected vaginal or anal sex.  Please educate yourself about the real risks.  If you stick with oral sex and condom-protected vaginal or anal sex, you have no HIV worries and very little worry about other STDs. "   DR HANSFIELD

"I am sure you can find lots of people who belive that HIV is transmitted by oral sex, but you will not find scientific data to support this unrealistic concern..."   DR HOOK

"HIV is not spread by touching, masturbation, oral sex or condom protected sex."- DR. HOOK

in the public HIV Prevention forum of MedHelp, TEAK and the other moderators maintain that oral sex in all forms is a zero risk activity. Would you agree with this assessment?
I TOTALLY AGREE / DR GARCIA

The observation on thousand and thousand of observations is that HIV is not spread by oral sex (of any sort).  DR. HOOK

NOW MOVE ALONG...WE ARENT GOING TO DEBATE THE FACTS ON THIS WITH YOU...THERE IS NOTHING TO DEBATE

Lizzie, I'm sure people in this forum don't expect to hear what they want. People want the truth... I think I prefer to be told the truth than hear what I want and it is a lie. Please, Lizzie... this forum is supposed to HIV Prevention, If you tell me I'm not infected I would probably go to another person and spread the virus... that is NOT prevention. Please, tell people the truth and NOT what they want to hear.

now move along...you do not have a hiv concern.

Thanks a lot to Lizzie and Teak for helping us in this forum. I'm wondering why OFICCIAL studies has created that risk interval? The semen and vaginal fluid has a HIGH concentration of virus. People contract it from vaginal and anal sex because of these fluids.

the poster does NOT need testing...not once at 4 weeks, not again at 8 weeks, and surely not for a third time at 12 weeks ! ! !  very poor advice.

oral sex does not transmit hiv and testing is not warranted.

I'm in the same situation as you. I'm a man and I received oral sex from a girl I met on Dominican Republic. I have probably read all the sites about oral sex risk. Actually I asked my doctor. My conclusions are that the risk is low, very low to the person who receives it and low for the person who perform it. I know how you feel. If you didnt have any lesion on the mouth at that moment you should be fine. The saliva has an enzyme that kills the virus. My advice is, get a test at 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks. You should be fine, he was not a sex worker as my case. From now on, ALWAYS use protection.

You sure oral sex doesn't transmit oral sex? There are MANY studies who has determinated a risk interval from 0.3% to 8% in oral sex.
