Rapid HIV Finger ***** test

Hi

I had unprotected sex in April of this year,  and developled flu like symptoms 2 days later, and a rash on my pelvic area. I had a HIV rapid test and full blood test at local clinic which showed I was clear about a week later, I was advised to revisit the clinic after 3 months for another test.  I have today had another rapid test which came up negative.  I am now waiting for the results of my full blood test which will take up to 2 weeks,

I have developed sinus problems  that wont go away and Im concerned it may be an early symtom.

the nurse said the rapid tests are pretty acurate and as I've passed the 3 months window period I should be ok.. but Im concerned because the rapid test doesn't test for the viris itself only the antibodies...

How accurate are these tests after 3 months?

Thank you for the response,  Im still a lil concerned, I woke up with a fever and sweating last night and still have these sinus problems, and swollen glads under my jaw line

My query really is how accurate are the small rapid tests because it was only very small sample of blood from my finger that the nurse took yesterday? is is really safe to say ive got the all clear at just after 3 months from such a small test.

hey teak, i had unprotected anal with a man on apr 5 2009 and tested neg on jul 5 2009, the test was an oraquick. the reason i ask if this test is conclusive is due to me being a virgin, a dumb one. i have a lymph node on the right side of my neck the size of a bean, firm non pain. can u offer any help. thanks

Your test is conclusive you don't have HIV.

sorry, i forgot to add that i am a 21 y/o male who has no sexual experience and i reside in ca/usa. does effect my future results at all?

Why would it effect your results? Your making more out of this then it needs to be. A test at 3 months is conclusive.
But above you said you had unprotected anal sex, now you say no sexual experience...which is it?

If you are going to have sex use CONDOMS.

i know i know, when i said no sexual experience, i ment with another person but i guess i have to accept the fact that i did have sex, unprotected at that, and i will use condoms the next time i do someting, which now i realize wont be until i meet that special someone. thanks for the advice. im just very nervous and must seek counsel because ive never done something so thoughtless before
