Rapid Test accuracy

Hello Everyone!

I want to ask something about the Vikia HIV 1/2 Rapid Test from bioMérieux.
1. The dauration of this Rapid Test.
I had 3 Vikia HIV 1/2 Rapid Tests( after the last possible exposure 10 weeks,14 weeks and 15 weeks ) in the HIV Checkpoint in my city( Augsburg Germany ) and all negative. But I still have doubts about the accuracy of these 3 tests, because the duration of these 3 tests too short. My first test lasted only 12 minutes before doctor told me the results. The second one 20 minutes and the third one even only 8 minutes. Is this normal? I mean the Dauration.
2. The accuracy of this test.
Is the Accuracy of Rapid test such as Vikia HIV 1/2 the same as the Elisa or any other Labortests?I think the Vikia HIV 1/2 ist 3.Generation only HIV Antibodies. But I have allready done 3 Tests and 2 of them were outside the windowperiode. Can I consider it as a accurate result that i don't have HIV? Should I do some Labortests like Elisa?

Thanks!

Rapid tests are oral swab or blood tests .which test did you do .like James said yes all rapid tests are conclusive after 12 weeks.repeated tests outside window prove you are negative .if they would have had some doubt then they would have not given u conclusive rest but they would have take another blood sample for more advanced tests like the gen 4 Elisa test .still for your peace of mind take Elisa hiv duo/ combo lab based test .although it should and would be negative

Thank you James!

I have already asked this question when I had the last test, the doctor said that usually 5 to 10 minutes are enough and told me I should trust them because they are Professionals, they know what they are doing...But as I observed that the Duration of this Rapid Test is in the whole Germany not the same. My second test which i can believe, was in Munich and dauration was 20 Minutes, same places 30 Minutes, some places like my city 10-12 Minutes. But they use the same Test Material Vikia...

In all honesty, I cannot fully answer that question. You would have to call the clinic where you for tested and ask them questions regarding the test you took. I doubt that they wouldn't know how to properly administer the test.  If you are concerned though, you can just test again. No harm in that.

Thank you James for such a quick answer!

I have asked the same question in german HIV forum and they said the same as you said that after 12 weeks are all the Test the same. As I know the difference between the Tests ist the windowperiode, same Tests can make the Windowperiode schort same can not. But after 12 Weeks are they the same. But still I have some questions about the Duration of the Rapid Test. 10 Minutes are enough for the Rapid Test? I read the  instructions of Vikia HIV 1/2 which says Read the result after 30 Minutes... but I did see that there was only one red controlline and no T line after every test. and instruction says  if the controlline changed from blue to red means that the test was correct and complett conducted. So I confused which one means the end? 30 minutes or the red controlline?

thanks!

Any test past 12 weeks is conclusive. You don't have HIV
