Re: Question about oran thrush

I'm a college student and I feel like for most of my life I have had this fuzzy white stuff on my tongue but just noticed it about a couple years ago.  Everywhere I go online it seems like this is thrush.  That could be extremely serious because thrush is often a sign of HIV infection.  All the pictures of thrush I look at online my tongue looks nothing like!!  My tongue doesn't look disgusting.  If you look at it you'll see some white kind of furry hairs but it's not gross at all!  This week I got strep throat.  When I went into the doctor I tested positive.  At the end of the appointment I asked the nurse to look at my tongue to see if it was normal.  She said no it wasn't and it was because of the strep.  I told her I had it for a couple years and she seemed a little concerned but didn't make a big fuss out of it at all!!  She said the penicillin for the strep should make it go away.  She also said it was NOT thrush and laughed when I said I was scared of having HIV.  The nurse claimed thrush looked like cottage cheese and what I had didn't look like it.    Remember she was just a nurse at a college health center.  Could this possibly be thrush?  And if it is, what are the chances I have HIV, diabetes, cancer...
