Reasoning the symtoms(symptoms)

Reasoning the symtoms(symptoms)

I have unprotected oral and protected vaginal sex with 2 prostitutes in India....I had no sysmptoms for 4 weeks but then also i got tested and was negative....after the test I had a sore throat which for the first 2 weeks was without pain but I just felt something at the back of my throat...very mild, no other symptoms (no fever, no lymph node sweeling), but just some pain in the eyes. I got tested again at 7 weeks and it was negative again. The sore throat didnot go and is very weird. It is totally dry, no pain in swelling, or anything but when i breathe i just feel something and its been like this for 3 more weeks. So I have sore throat of a different type for 5 weeks now. I have taken antibiotics and anti-allergic for 3 days but its still the same. The throat becomes very dry (no cough no pain) but u can feel it when u breathe. Their is some pain in my lower back and 1 knee (dont know wheter it is related). Now after 9 weeks I have tested again by home test kit from STD-Checher which they say is FDA approved and its negative again. Kindly suggest whether the sore throat of this type is due to HIV infection or this is some sort of allergy

HIV test results always are more reliable than risk history or symptoms in judging whether someone has an HIV infection.  As has been discussed many times here, very few if any illnesses delay HIV test positivity or alter the reliability of the test results.  Your negative HIV tests at 7 and 9 weeks prove that you did not catch HIV and that something else is the cause of your symptoms.  (Also, the symptoms do not sound at all like those of a new HIV infection.)

See a doctor or clinic if your symptoms continue or you otherwise remain concerned. But stop worrying about HIV.  You don't have it.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

How HIV sore throats behave is irrelevant.  The test shows you do not have HIV, and therefore your sore throat cannot possibly be due to HIV.  End of story.  (Anyway, HIV sore throats generally clear up within a couple of weeks.)

That's all for this thread.
