Risk of HIV from unprotected sex at a strip club

by youarebad100, Oct 31, 2009 10:25PM
Ok so i was at a club the other day and the stripper just put it in her mouth without a condom  I should of screamed at her and ran the hell out of the place but I didnt.  Now I'm freaked out and already made an appointment with my doctor for a normal physical and plan to ask bout std testing.  I do not have any partners and this was a one time thing should I get an HIV test?  Do I need to test for other stds?  My appontment will be two weeks after the event I mean testing for the other stds I guess should be done but do I need to worry bout HIV testing?  i guess I'm totally freaked out now that I could be this stupid

You didn't have an HIV concern.

by youarebad100, Oct 31, 2009 10:59PM
Should I get tests for other std's?

Thanks for your reply I have checked the forum and it seems many people ask this question all the time.  I guess I'm just in freakout mode worried my life and dreams will be over ya know?  How do i know i have no risk?  When I see my doctor will she recommend i get tested or believe it is a non concern?  What opinion do most medical doctors have on testing for this?

by youarebad100, Nov 01, 2009 03:57PM
wow Am i freakingout i cannot stop shaking and I'm so scared I caught HIV i called my docotr office back and talked to an advice nurse who got me a phone appt with my doctor how do I cope with this?  I dont wanna get sick and die I want to get married and have kids have a future i'm an emotional wreck right now what can I do?

by Teak, Nov 01, 2009 04:38PM
Cut the drama, you didn't have an HIV risk.

sorry for the drama this is just not somthing that I deal with i do not have sex with anyone really and aside from handjobs this is the first time ive done somthing uncovered and the cdc website lists oral as less risky then vaginal sex not a complete non issue.  Hopefully once i talk to my doctor tomorrow i can put myself at ease.  i realize that hiv is not the swine flu and everyone isnt catching it.  honestly if i look at the stats less than half the people infected are women.  Of those a small percentage are asian and then there havent really been hard documented cases of  a person getting oral having gotten hiv so why am I so upset.

dont worry man it's just gonna mess up ur mind. u cant get it that way. here's a link to a journal made by someone on medhelp that helped me out. http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/88524

it has a lot of good info and knowledge about hiv and how u get it.

thank you for the post I know its in my head but i spoke with my doctor today and she said it was low risk not impossible she sent me over to the lab to get std testing and that included an HIV test to establish a time frame.  I'm pretty sure that comes back negative as all ive done is covered oral and mutual masturbation.  she said i can go back in 6 months i said can it be 3 and she said yes .  i'm not sure on timeframes if my 3 months is neg is that conclusive?

At about three weeks go get a PCR DNA HIV test. YEah... bla bla bla people say it is not to be used for diagnostic purposes and that's a bunch of crap. It is for insurance reasons... So if you got some money it'll be about 300... and if you went to strip club I am sure you do.

I got a PCR DNA at three weeks and it's almost 100% and then combine those with stats. Your chance is like 0.0001% to begin with. 1 in 10,000 for oral with someone who is even hiv positive.

Either way - I don't think you have any reason to be concerned.

by youarebad100, Nov 02, 2009 08:43PM
I guess I'm just worried thats all I mean I dont want to be the one that gives the doctors here a new response that they only know of one person to get hiv through oral.  Am i just being crazy?  1 in 10000 sounds high though that causes worry.  I will wait for my new results doctor said should be 48 hrs but the lab girl said hiv test takes longer.  Is 3 months a conclusive test?  should i do one at 6 or 8 weeks or just 3 months

by Teak, Nov 02, 2009 08:43PM

WRONG. PCR-DNA are not diagnostic tests.

So I should not bother to even consider a PCR test teak?  I'm in the US not sure what tests avaialble should I just do the antibody test and when?  Can I do one at 6 weeks and then 13?  Is 3 months conclusive or do I need 6 months?  I just dont know I know u said oral is not really a risk but I'm all freaked out thanks for your clarifications i get so many answers from different people its scaring me

by worriedwithanxiety, Nov 02, 2009 09:15PM

I know they are not diagnostic test! But they are way better than waiting for three months to get an exact answer. The reason why they are not considered diagnostics is because of insurance reasons.... comes down to money. youarebad100... take the pcr dna at three weeks- 4 weeks ideally and be done with it!

by Teak, Nov 02, 2009 09:16PM
You don't need testing you were never at risk of contracting HIV.

You've been reported to Medhelp. You've already been told several times that they are not approved diagnostic tests for HIV and you keep telling people to test using them. MOVE ON..

After three weeks there are millions of copies of HIV DNA within the blood. The PCR DNA is ultra sensitive and can read as few as 50 (not an exact count but I know it's in the double digits) This is after they have duplicated dna strand after dna strand millions of times.

So please tell me .... why is it not accurate? Ooooh wait, because antibodies haven't been created yet? Antibodies are a for sure sign that it is conclusive that you do or do not have HIV. That is why antibody tests are to be only used for diagnostic purposes. The healthcare system does not want to be wrong so therefore they use the antibody test. I do not blame them.... but that's the reason why PCR DNA is not used for diagnostic testing. IT can however tell you almost 100% that you do no have the virus.

At three or four weeks after being exposed to the virus you already have the HIV viral dna in your system... millions of them.

Thank you very much for reading.

I know it is not used for diagnostic purposes... and it shouldn't because there aren't any antibodies.. which is the only 100%.

But PCR DNA is still pretty darn reliable... I know this and you do too.

by youarebad100, Nov 02, 2009 09:47PM
alright well I dont know if i need a pcr test I will consult with the doctor when i get my initial results.  If i do only anitibody test should i do 6 weeks and 13?

Well I got some results back today  apparently i  dont have syphillis, chalmydia or gonorea.  Still waiting to establish i dont have HIV now and will wait to take a second test. I just need to stop going crazy as this is bothering me and effecting my work  I just cant stop thinking i got it and 1/10000 is not that low of a risk

by youarebad100, Nov 04, 2009 09:34PM
So my first HIV test was negative just had a few questions if anyone can help.
I was told i was negative over the phone which i did not think they could do anyway the lady said to com back in 6 months or 3 months and six months if i wanted  She stated that 3 months is not conclusive and that i need to do a 6 month for sure.  I'm a little confused they said the test would take several days to 2 weeks Is a longer wait time indictive of a positve?  I got this test back iun 26 hours which seemed fast to me.  Also why would they tell me 6 months and everyone here is saying 3 I'm just confused

Also do false positves happen?  I asked them what kind of test this was but all i was told it test for HIV1 and HIV2 antibody this was done through Kaiser Permanente. If this type of test comes back positive do they confirm it or is that only rapid tests?  If anyone could answer my questions i would be grateful.

I realize you consider what happened as no risk thats fine I understand that.  I was just trying to get advice on my experience with the testing not with my risk.  Can anyone adress the questions that i had previously posed.  Regardless of what you believe my risk to be I believe it would be valuable information.

I had several questions in my post before teak put up be quiet sign.

by LIZZIE LOU, Nov 07, 2009 06:22AM
the CURRENT guideline is 3 months
how long a test takes is up to the lab...tests are usually run in batches
false positives do occur...although it is not the norm
all positive tests are confirmed by a western blot

I couldn't have said it better.
