Sex has been almost completely oral (very little risk) . Unprotected Insertive anal about 6 times but the duration has always been under a minute. What are the real chances of transmission. Odds say 6.5 in 10,000. Has anyone ever heard of anyone contracting with these few experiences?  Thanks

Has it happened?  Maybe.  Is it likely?  Not really.  Should you be tested?  Yes.  I think if you engage in sex outside of monogomous relationships, especially anal, you should be tested.  (Anal sex is a little riskier than vaginal.)  The odds are in your favor, but always remember to wear a hat.

I think I have read that the odds with anal are about 1/500 per exposure.

I don't think there is a difference in terms of odds between insertive anal and insertive viganal. However the risk is perhaps greater if the receptive partner is a male.

Actually there is a difference.  The anus was not originally created for sex.  There are alot more microscopic tears then in the vagina.  Anal sex is definatly riskier.

The lining of the anus tears much easier.

Thanks for the all the information, but has anyne ever heard of contracting HIV with these few experiences? Oral has been almost completely oral (a few receptive bu no ejaculation) and the the few insertive anal. I am circumcised and they were very brief. They were stupid, I know. Most places say the odds per insertive anal is 6.5 in 10,000. It sounds like there are better odds of getting hit by lightning. Thanks for all of your help..

Hello. Read your post with interest. Have you posted this for the doctor to answer? If not, perhaps you should. He could give you an excellent outline of your risk factors. Or, have you read through the previous threads? Bet you might find your answer there.

I haven't posted for the doctor. I basically know the answer is very low odds, but it just helps to hear it from other people that have gone through it. I know that it is a hard virus to get and my exposure is about 5 minutes total and I was tested in 2001. Insertive oral just isn't a risk. Thanks...

You don't mention when the insertive anal took place. Nor do you mention if you tested after the episodes took place.

In any event, it is probably better to just take the test and get it out of the way (and any worries about it) than to sit around and think about it all of the time.

I see. You leave a bit out of your post, but frankly, if I were you, I'd probably just get the test. Not because I was overly concerned, but because I was concerned at all.

Think about it: something caused you to come post here. You are concerned, at least a little. So, why not just go get the test. You can go to many, many places and get an oral swab test, and know your status (which will be negative) in 20 minutes.

When was the last episode of unprotected insertive anal? If it was 3 months ago (and sounds like it was, though maybe not), you could go in tomorrow and have a conclusive result.

Exposure's were after 2001 test. Haven't tested since them Didn't see the need? What do you think?
