Im no expert but i know what i know, to answer your question honestly YES . you can certainly get both -and at the same time. only way to know your status is to get tested at 12 weeks for hiv
on any other testing...after 99 days its still a bit hard to accept my negative results due to symptoms. Go get tested -anything after 6weeks is pretty clear of your status. best of luck and lay off the internet (before anxiety kicks inn).
Quick question... So what is the difference between the 20 min rapid test and the draw blood and send out to lab in get reslults in 3 business days? If the rapid tests are reliable then why arent they often used by your personal doctor? I really want to know the facts and get better educated about HIV.
Please inform me much more. In what ways is it the same? And also why rapid tests are free and elisa costs money? Isnt it convinient for personal doctors to use rapid tests if you say they are the same.
rapid tests were developed to give results very fast without waiting many days..it was developed mainly to test mass number of people example ina testing camp..
however, they have a very high sensitivity and specificity so they are highly reliable..
personal doc may use an elisa maybe because they are tied with a particular lab, they dont have a rapid test kit, or in your case maybe because you ahve to pay for an elisa and not for a rapid test
Are those the facts? If it is I am a bit informed, thank you kumar007. And now for the next question. You stated in your earlier post that 3 mos. is conclusive. So why is that 6 mos. is talked about more as being highly conclusive? Sorry for these questions. I am very scared thats all. I am a human.
I performed anal on a woman and my condom broke. I put on another one. After I finished I felt symptoms 3-4 days later. Went to the doctors and told him my symptoms. He said it was gonorrea and gave me antibiotics for a week. Symptoms went away and I still was feeling pain on my testicles. Went back and he gave other antibiotics. From there on I have no more symptoms and it went away. This happened in February and I tested for HIV. So I went to a local clinic in April and did a rapid blood 20 min test. I came out negative. But the person at the clinic said it was too soon for me to test. So she told me to come back in May. In May it was negative. So from Feb to May it was accounted for 3 months. The person told me to come back within 3 months (August) for a retest to make sure. So I did and it came out negative. I was not sold on rapid tests so I went this Saturday, Sept.25th to my doctors and i will get my results with 2-3 days. What are the chances that it will be negative. Can someone please help me? Can someone assure me 100% that I will be ok! Its been an experience for me. I finally want to wake up from this nightmare.
your test are already conclusive and this next one will most certanly be as well. its just about how you take the results -move on knowing you got tested and you are fine. FYI-if your encounter was just anal and with a condom (broken or not) there was no risk to begin with. you dont have hiv! chilllll
unproteced vaginal or anal sex is a risk... no matter with man or woman... if condom broke also a risk... test at 3month after exposure to get a conclusive results....
The health care worker at the clinic told me to return another 3 months. So it can be totaled to 6 months. They told me 6 months is conclusive. Also, someone told me that 20 min rapid test is not the same as the Elisa test. Can someone clarify. It made me think because where I went was a dingy clinic and they were not professional at all. And they had so many device tests out in the open. How do i know they didn't use the lancet on me that they already used on another.
3 months has been the testing guideline since 2004.
