Scared of contracted HIV - Sex with a professional

Hi,

My name is Eddy from Bakersfield, California. I recently went to a trip to Rio de Janeiro for work and did the stupidest  thing of my life. I was approached by some prostitutes in a bar and went back to the hotel with two of them for the night. I had protected vaginal sex with both of them, probably 2-3 times, and I was also given unprotected oral sex by one of them. For the oral sex, i ejaculated but my sperm was not in contact with her mouth or any other body part. I have been scared to death since I got back home two days ago. You must know that I checked the used condoms the next morning to see if they were not pierced but it seemed that everything was ok on that side. I am not sure if those girls were HIV positive but I overheard the rate of HIV positive prostitutes in Brazil is pretty high, especially in Rio.

I would truly appreciate if a doctor or forum member(s) could help me and provide answers to some questions running through my mind at this time:
1/ What are the chances I could contract HIV from somebody infected through protected vaginal sex ? What about if the condom was not properly placed ?
2/ What other STDs could I contract receiving a fellation without condom from somebody infected (syphillis, herpes, etc.) ?
3/ What process should I go through ? Would you advise to do a PCR ? a standard HIV detection test ? How long should I wait before I run those tests ?
4/ Can you infect someone by having vaginal sex without ejaculating ?

I spent all morning on forums and websites trying to find some answers as I'm in a really dark place right now. One thing is certain, this is the first and last tine this kind of thing happened to me. The worst is that I cannot tell my life partner of this incident, at least not so soon. I've been avoiding sex and pretending to be over busy with work as there is no way I would risk to infect her if something wrong happened to me...

Please, I am begging for your advices

Just move along you do not have an HIV concern nor do you need testing.

Thanks Teak, I must say I'm feeling slightly better now. I will still run a test in 10 days to make sure I'm safe. So it is only a question of condom breaking-up ? In that case, I am 100% sure it was not the case. I guess the risk of the semen to move toward the bottom of the condom and leaving it is really low, or even zero, right ?

Did this type of accident, or worse, also happen to you in the past ? This is honestly the last time I do this kind of mistake. All the bad thoughts, scare, paranoia...is definitely not worth a few hours of pleasure...

If the condom (s) were in place before penetration and still on after withdrawal then you were protected. Condom's do not have small holes. When they fail they tear wide open. That's because of the tension when in place. If they fall off it's equally noticeable and you and most likely your partner would have been aware of.
Holding the tip of a condom when donning it is to prevent an air bubble as that could cause the condom to break during the act. In your case it didn't . Next time you know better .
HIV is not something you should worry about becasue of this event.

If the condom didn't fail you had no risk.

Thank you Teak, I was not aware of that. Is that because of the pre-cum or the simple contact of two genital areas ?

"misplaced" was not exactly the proper word for the situation. What I mean is that I may have not respected 100% the indications on how to use a condom. The condom itself (expiration date, brand-new, etc.) and the timing (before sex started / until end) were ok but I have not hold tip while unrolling it each time. I believe there was enough space as everything seemed to stay in the reservoir. Is it still a risk or is that just a rule to prevent the condom from breaking during sex act (that did not happen) ? Perhaps should I ask this question to a doctor or specialist ?

Do you think I am being over cautious or even paranoid ?

Thanks,

You don't need ejaculation to transmit HIV.  What do you mean by misplaced?

Thanks Teak,

Just in case the condom was misplaced (lots of alcohool so it may have), I will run a standard HIV test in a few days. It seems some people advise after 10 days and some others after 30 days. I guess 30 days is safer.

Do you know about the part "Can somebody HIV-positive (male) infect his partner (female) during intercourse if there is no ejaculation ?" From what I understand it does not but I really want to make sure for my partner, at least until I do a test. I know it is slightly paranoia but it's always better to be safe than sorry....

Thanks,
