with a man i don't know and am petrified that pep may not work due to how late i was. My exposure was not much as i think i was only inside the guy for less than a minute.
My question(s) are:
Seeing how depending on the amount of risk in the exposure and weather there was a lot of blood or other hiv
fluids present makes them decide to give you the 2 pill PEP or the 3 pill PEP, so when there is more blood there is a stronger pep given. My question is why? Does more blood for example mean that you will get hiv
There are no doctors in this forum so nobody here has experience in prescribing PEP. However, what you have described really doesn't sound right.
PEP is normally given when it is known that the partner had HIV. That is the determining factor whether it is prescribed or not, so I really don't understand why you are receiving it. And the presence of blood during a sexual encounter doesn't increase the risk, so I doubt that there is any accept guideline for prescribing PEP that relates to that.
Finally, 46 hours is not late for PEP; the important thing is that you started it within 72 hours.
they are undoubtedly giving pep to people with unkown partners also. I think that i fair practice...
What i found was strange was that they were also perscribing it in some cases for receptive oral.
You are wrong. That is not 'fair practice'. Read the federal recommendations for administering nPEP (below).
"For persons seeking care <72 hours after nonoccupational exposure to blood, genital secretions, or other potentially infectious body fluids of a person known to be HIV infected, when that exposure represents a substantial risk for transmission, a 28-day course of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is recommended. Antiretroviral medications should be initiated as soon as possible after exposure. For persons seeking care <72 hours after nonoccupational exposure to blood, genital secretions, or other potentially infectious body fluids of a person of unknown HIV status, when such exposure would represent a substantial risk for transmission if the source were HIV infected, no recommendations are made for the use of nPEP."
I was stupid and I didn't follow my religion rules.
Now i'm going on the right course and following my religion which says :
" Stay away from havin SEX and RELATIONS unless you are married, these releations causes STD and illness ,,, " .. this thing have been said and written around 1430 years ago.
Did you know that Muslim countries have the lowest HIV spread % around the world ?
Only in Untied Arab Emirates there are 347 cases which 70% of them are forignes.
I'm sorry but my point is stay away from Sex and we'll be fine , wanna have sex get married that's all easy and simple.
When I said fair practice I didn't mean it as a medical term if it is one... I simply ment I felt it is fair and good thing to do. Apparently so do others including those in the medical community because it is being given.
What I did find strange and worth mentioning here is that they offer it for receptive oral also depending on "certain circumstances" I thought that was worth noting cuz that must mean they belive oral sex can possibly cause hiv
To the religious person, I was using a condom and it broke, I don't share ur religious values of not having sex till marriage. I don't think that advice belongs on this forum
It certainly is true that they are offering this. I found it strange since i always believed oral sex was pretty much 100% safe sex.
I will ask at my fallowup exactly what these circumstances are.
I would imagine they would be open mouth sores or cuts or something that most people just don't have.
