Sean Cummings article

Anyone able to confirm something from this article please?

The dr states asymptomatic shedding of herpes increases hiv risk?

I understand Herpes skin to skin contact not sexual / body fluids. Without such fluids. (Asymptomatic shedding) I don't get how risk of passing hiv is increased.
