Sensibility 4th generation HIV tests

by Panam99, Oct 30, 2009 12:52PM
Does anyone has any idea about the sensibility and specificity of 4th generation HIV tests (=detection of antigen and antibody together)? apparently these tests shorten the window period ; so the question is: with what certitude can one say that you are positif or negatif after 2 weeks - 4 weeks - 6 weeks ? If the window period is smaller, does that mean that a control after 3 months is no longer needed ?

No test is approved for a conclusive negative before 3 months. True tests are more sensitive and the Dr's on this site have not see anyone turn positive after 8 weeks in several years, but the standard is still 3 months for a conclusive negative,
