(and from what I can tell it did not break). We started with dry humping... I did not penetrate her initially... but at one point I did for about 5-7 seconds and I came out as soon as I realized what I was doing... this happened one more time again for about 2-5 seconds. At this point I pulled out again and we dry humped for about 30 seconds and then I started to masturbate. It was dark and I didn't realize she was menstruating... there was blood on the outside of the condom and I'm sure vaginal fluids. I started to pleasure my self with my hand while the condom was still on and then took it off and finished.
I am uncircumcised and used the foreskin to hold the semen as I got up immediately to go the bathroom to deposit the semen in th basin. As I did that I saw that the semen was more watery than usual and was light reddish... this is when I realized there was menstrual blood.
So she was high risk (cautious but high risk). The menstrual blood somehow went from the condom to my hand to my penis or directly from outside of condom to penis as I masturbated with the condom on. In the end her menstrual blood was in contact with my penis head, inside of my foreskin and semen.
There are no guarantees and I will get tested in 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months. But should I get PEP? It has been 24 hours so please respond urgently. I have read conflicting things about PEP. I am aware of the danger of the side effects and that the treatment itself could make me ill. But in this case, is PEP the best option?
I made a mistake and I will put my hand up and admit it. But that's not going to make anything go away now. I need guidance from you guys on my exposure risk and what I should do next. When should I test? Should I get PEP?
I am trying to calm myself but that's easier said than done. Please respond.
Thanks Teak for your prompt response! When you say I didn't have a risk - is it because the contact of penis head with the blood was outside the vagina? I have read/heard from diff sources that HIV infection won't survive outside its host... but I'm not sure whether my condition was exactly that. I used a condom and did not penetrate the sex worker unprotected but not sure if the contact with menstrual blood in my case was the same/ has the same risk as having unprotected vaginal sex with a sex worker while she was menstruating.
When is the earliest you recommended I get tested after this encounter? 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months?
Thanks again. You guys do a thankless job of responding to so many question (very often repeated over and over) but as a worried person I can say that your responses are very helpful.
I don't mean to bug you but can you please briefly explain why I wouldn't be at any risk even if my penis head was in contact with menstrual blood from a sex worker? Please?
I don't mean to bother you or panic unnecessarily... but I just want to know and understand.
HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions, therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.
