Should I be concern?

I am a 23 year old male who engaged in a one night stand with a 43 year old male. We basically “fooled around” meaning frottage, oral sex (we both received and gave), and a lot of kissing. There was no anal sex. We both came once frottaging and I came once masturbating. Nobodies semen was ejaculated in another person’s body. There were no open wounds or sores on any of each others bodies either.

After we performed the act he told me he has been HIV positive for 10 years. That shocked me because I never had any intimate relations with someone with HIV (or at least didn’t know the status or was lied to about their status). He tried to reassure me that what we did was perfectly safe and that his former partners and lovers were HIV negative before and after their relationships. Of course, still being relatively young and naïve I still freaked out. And I am still mad he didn’t tell me of his status before we engaged in “fooling around.”

A few days later, I was running the event through my mind and realized that I tasted his precum while giving him oral sex. I called him about this and he said that it did not prove any risk and that studies show that it is a very low risk. However, I am still worried. Even though I have read up on HIV/AIDS I still feel very ignorant. Should I be concern and take a HIV test after the window period or should I stop worrying?

No reason to be concern. Had you had unprotected anal sex then you would have had a concern.

You have no risk for HIV.  You should talk to your partners about HIV and STDs before you engage in sexual activity with them.  Communication about this always helps, even if it is with something like just giving you the comfort of knowing and understanding.
