If you believe you have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.
Hi JC and thank you for your response. Please help me understand why there was no need. Is it because of low risk or low probability of transmission or both?
And please pardon my ignorance as I am new to this but are you an expert in this area?
1) You had Protected vaginal intercourse- NO RISK.
2) HIV transmission via receptive oral sex just DOES NOT happen in the "Real World".
3) You may read my profile.
Thanks again JC. On point (2) though, it was oral sex both ways. As in I went down on her too. Does this change your original opinion?
Sorry I wasnt clearer on that earlier and again thank you.
Hey JC. Sorry to bother you. Ive had trouble moving on and putting this behind me so I got a quickprick test done on day 25. I know you said I was not at risk, but I just cannot seem to move on. Here is my reasoning, please tell me if I'm correct in thinking
1) If I had been infected a test at 25 days would have picked it up, especially as my sore throat has gone away (meaning my immune system is working normally and therefore would have started to produce detectable anti bodies)
2) If the sore throat was ARS the test would have shown pos.
3) Would you recommend I get tested again?
4) What would you recommend I do to move on and stop stressing?
Thank you so much. You guys have no idea how much you've helped me deal with the stress.
PS I fly with Indian Navy pilots over here. You guys are great.
1)You were NOT infected via this encounter
2)CAN NOT be ARS from this incident
3)NO
4)YES
I will NOT play the "would have shown pos" or "would have picked it up" game here as it is NOT relevant in your case. I will NOT help you feed your fears or HIV phobia. I use science and the science is what I've already explained.
Ok so I have been trying to put this whole event behind me but am having a really hard time. The what ifs start popping into my head. My biggest concern is that I had a sore throat almost like a strep type white spot on my left tonsil and one canker sore. If this was ars (it popped up exactly two weeks later) would a test have come up pos at 25 days? I also did another at 33 days and it to was negative. The site provided a great resource and your knowledge really helps.
Do I need to keep retesting for Hiv or should I see a councelor for my anxiety. Jeanclaude has been a great help and maybe your guys opinion will help out. I'm really allowing this whole thing to take over my life with all the worry. Is that worry warrented?
Thanks guys.

the fact of the matter is you were NEVER at risk. there is NO way that your sore throat has anything to do with hiv...just a sore throat.
