Ok my best friend asked me to do it cause he's afraid. It appears to me that some people here are very well informed so here it goes. My friend had unprotected vaginal
of unknown status who claimed to be clean. My friend went to his doctor and they performed a full blood work on him including all STD's and he was tested for HIV
to say that with the exposure that i described, the timeframe of the tests and the fact that in my opinion he has no sign of anything other than a cold which everyone seems to have lately that my friend is just overly concerned and is feeling guilty because he is in a relationship. And that he is pretty much in the clear?
Symptoms don't mean anything. The only prove is the test itself. Now 3 months past exposure is conclusive. Most people who are infected would test positive by 6 weeks., So your friends 7 week negative result is a good sign, but it has to be confirmed by week #13. In the future, he's got to protect himself from now on. You can't relie on a sexual partner to protect your own health. We are all responsible for protecting our healths, plain and simple. So tell him to get tested again on the 13th or 12th week past exposure.
One more thing, allthough im HIV negative, please don't use the word "clean" Its offensive to those that have HIV. Its a virus, not dirt.
Sources- I took anatomy and physiology, i have a friend in med school and i've been std tested once a year.
