Single Episode Vaginal Sex March 2009

Hello doctors, Last Year (March 12,2009) i had a Single episode vaginal Sex (unprotected) with a sex worker in my (BACHELORS PARTY) but i did not ejaculate in her..i was so stupid not to use CONDOM. My question is what are the chances that i have been infected with HIV? i had  CBC check  April 08,2009 and everything came out NORMAL.  Is that true that if you had single vaginal sex episode (unprotected) you are  low risk of getting HIV? please advice.. i cant sleep every night i've only been married for a year and i love my wife so much. what should i do? so far as of now i still don't recall having fever,diarrhea,rash,swollen lymp nodes. Should i get tested?

Yes you should get tested.  Unprotected sex places you at risk.  Symptoms or lack thereof will tell you nothing about your HIV status.  You can test now and obtain a conclusive result.

If we assume that your partner was HIV positive, then the risk of HIV infection via unprotected vaginal sex is 1 in 2000 exposures for the male partner. Absence of ejaculation doesn't reduce the risk of infection for the male partner, only a correctly used condom does.

According to the guidelines, you need to get tested. Symptoms don't tell one's status, only an HIV test does. Test now to know your status.

Thanks for your reply! i did get a test 4 weeks prior to exposure... i had a COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT but not a HIV test and everything came out normal.

only a test designed for hiv will tell one their status...a cbc will not do that.

if you are concerned about your status...then test and put this out of your mind.
