If you believe you have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.
I don't want to sound like a hysterical gay man, but I live in NYC and people are infected with all sorts of crazy things; I would hate to ruin my life in my early 20's.
No, this isn't a risk. Cuts and abrasions start healing IMMEDIATELY, and there are several layers of skin which provide a barrier against infection. Not to mention, the HIV virus is weak and cannot cause transmission outisde of the body...cuts or no cuts.
Modes of transmission are---unprotected anal or vaginal sex, sharing IV needles, and from mother to infant.
Thank you! This has eased my anxiety. I will most certainly get tested just to get my self on a routine but I will go into it fully assured that that encounter was safe.

No worries.
Thanks again,
