Statistical Question, Chances of infection and need for retest

Hi Doctor.

On 2/12/2010 I got a massage from a sex worker I then found out was a MTF Transexual. (Post op)
The person fingered me very violently (not sure if I bled) however did not bleed from fingers that looked uncut and not bleeding or with scabs. The person's saliva was used as lubricant.
When I was told about the person being a transexual at the end of the massage, I got scared, and asked if there are any helath conditions suffered by the person, the answer was a defenitive no.
I asked again about HIV and the person produced a negative test result from December 5th, 2009, showing Negative status.
Since the result was very handy when I asked (pulled immediately from purse) I got worried.
Knowing you say 6-8 weeks is the time to get tested, I wanted to wait, however during yearly physical and bloodwrk, I asked my Doctor to order HIV test as well.
Blood was taken on 3/4/2010, and came back 3/5/2010 as Negative. Test used was EIA, SCR W/RFL - Result - Nonreactive. The test states that if acute HIV infection is suspected, Antibody retesting and HIV DNA/RNA is recommended, however, I do not think that this is an acute HIV risk.

Having anxiety kick in 20 days after, and following a massive breakout of canker sore, I got a rapid blood test on 3/23/2010, that came back negative.

I would like to ask, as I have not been tested at 6-8 weeks, what is the statistical chance of non detection assuming there is a risk of infection?

Also, is there a risk of infection?

And last, should I be worried the person fingering me had a HIV test on their person as if ready for a situation like this to arise?

Should I get retested? If so, what test, and when?

Thank you greatly.

Welcome to the HIV forum. I have also scanned your many anxiety-driven questions and replies on the community forum.  My first response to the present question is delivered after I have read only the first line of your question.  There is no risk of catching HIV from a massage.  If a penis without a condom has not been inside another person's vagina, rectum, or mouth, there is no risk of sexual transmission.  (And mouth is questionable risk at best.)  I will be surprised if there is any information in the rest of your quesiton that changes my judgment that you are not at risk of HIV.

Now I have read the rest.  Guess what?  There is no risk ofrom the exposure you describe and your negative test result are reliable.  Fingering is not a risk, and anyway the odds are strong your partner didn't have HIV ainyway.  You did not catch HIV.  No additional testing is necessary.

Unlike your threads on the community forums, I'm not going to respond to any "yes but" or "did you really understand" questions.  It is unlikely there is any information you could provide that would change my opinion or advice.

Thank you docotr.
My main question though was abut statistics.
While I understand the test results are negative and no retesting is required, I asked :
"I would like to ask, as I have not been tested at 6-8 weeks, what is the statistical chance of non detection assuming there is a risk of infection?"

And that's what I answerd,  The statistical chance you have HIV is zero, because of the nature of the exposure.  And in people who are infected, the chance of a negative test at 6-8 weeks isestimated to be under 1 in 1000.
